Sainsbury's taking ID details

Anyway, never mind Sainsburys, how about Morrisons?

I was stood by a chap recently,in their Newcastle-under-Lyme store, he looked not a day under 80 yet he got I.D. checked - as did I (and I hope I looked a bit younger!)

I asked and they have to I.D. check everybody!

Absolutely absurd!

Depends what you mean by "have". They have to because their manager told them or company policy is...

We need to make a stand though and say "No, sorry. I don't accept that, call the manager"

I did ask for management, and was told its "Company Policy"

So I took my business elsewhere and have not been back.

I'm all in favour of keeping under age drinking under control, but found this absurd.

I work nightshift at Sainsbury's, and even though the shop is closed they still make us do a "think 25" test every few months. The last page features several "photocopy" photos where you have to guess their age :o

Meanwhile, my one-man Sainsbury's age-restricted products boycott continues...

Yesterday evening while purchasing alcohol at my local Tesco store, the cashier remarked that I didn't "look like one of those types", and didn't request to see identification. The whole experience was markedly pleasant.

I don't even mind that the goods were slightly more expensive than at Sainsbury's; their 'Think 25' policy and the general attitude of their staff are atrocious.

Some Sainsbury's have recently been required to take note of all refusals of sale of age restricted products. A few people have got this confused with having to take note of peoples details for every age restricted purchase if the person looks under 25. Simple mistake by the casheer.

I know what you mean, a while ago (well a very good while now) I was in Sainsbury's picking up some things I needed, which were bottle of JD for my self, a bottle of nice wine to have with the at-the-time GF and a couple packs of condoms as there was an offer on ...

The dirty looks the checkout person gave me when he saw that was all that I was buying ... I mean ffs, I'm buying a wine bottle that costs more than £2, I'm dressed well, why give me a look reserved for chav scum :/

This is a condition of licence for all bars and pubs, so I assume this is also the case for supermarkets. Though from my experiences today, it seems hit or miss to whether they actually keep one or not. Hopefully that'll change in the next few weeks.
