Hi Guys

I have been working to try and get improved ETAs for the current range of joysticks and game controllers at OcUK

The demand for high end game controllers for this game has far exceeded the manufacturers stock holding and production capabilities.

being totally honest here, the popular choices are like hens teeth and if you see one in stock anywhere, then buy it.

Saitek stock levels are never massive and Thustmaster HOTAS is pretty much non existent anywhere. They have massively underestimated the demand for their product with this game. so we are really just left with Saitek for HOTAS systems.

Now that UK distributors are back open, I have some etas updated for every sku we have on order.

for reference, on the x55 and x52 sticks we have upwards of 100 pre orders for each model so obviously pre orders will be fulfilled as a priority, we should have a decent amount of free stock available afterwards but I strongly suggest placing an order if you want to guarantee a controller.

Hoping this helps you and keeps you all informed.

I love my Thrustmaster HOTAS, took a while to find it though. Glad to see these are coming to OCUK, my Stepdad may be interested.

you and me both :(

Thrustmaster had no stock all over peak for any of their key lines.

No doubt some manager somewhere is getting his ass kicked. Huge sales opportunity and I'm actually surprised neither Saitek nor Thrustmaster have tried to do some sort of special edition with game copy included.

I know right. we start preparing for peak season in September.

you can see from how long I have had these products on order that Thrustmaster has just been a total mess recently.

when I can buy stuff, its great but they dont allocate anything to the UK and then wonder why sales are poor in our region, then continue not to allocate because of previous poor sales.

Admittedly, the demand for high performance flight peripherals has been very small, especially given their cost. Elite Dangerous has inflated demand by 600%+ at OcUK just to give you some sort of idea.

Amazing what one game can do for a product, I myself bought a Thrustmaster T-flight hotas X before Christmas for ED/SC

indeed it is. I'm not complaining as it makes me look great but I knew this would happen as soon as I was short of stock in september.

like I say, all I can do sadly at the moment is keep everybody up to date.

Got myself a Thrustmaster T-flight hotas X was pre owned as nowhere had any stock bit mad some of the silly prices iv seen for it when it was just over £30.

I did the smart thing and bought an X-55 before Xmas when they were in stock elsewhere at a good price. However, the trigger button stopped working after a few days, and now I'm left waiting goodness knows how long for a replacement! A friend of mine had a similar experience, and the QC on Saitek products seems to be pretty appalling by many accounts. My suggestion, buy two if you can just in case one goes as quickly as mine did!

My advice to you would be to get a refund.

Th X55 is utter garbage, if you took one appart and looked inside you would be horrified at the quality of the components and the overall build quality.

Its a smart looking chassis with £20 internals.

I don't think you're wrong actually... I've read so many horror stories about these going wrong, it's frightening. In terms of (affordable) alternatives though, there isn't much, especially regards throttles, with the CH Pro Throttle being the only viable alternative that I can find which offers excellent reliability (apparently).

So avoid the x55?

What about the x52 or x52 pro?

Or even the x65?

Which is the 'smallest' of these 'better' sticks? Currently on speed link black widow. Does the job for now, but if I stick with elite will probably want something better.

I don't think the X52 is any better than the X55 from reviews I've seen, and I've not seen anyone say they'd opt for the X52 over the X55 having tried both. And both will suffer from same potential failures.

The problem is there just doesn't seem to be very much on the market that is actually real 'quality'. The CH Pro Throttle being an exception, and the CH Flightstick, but that lacks yaw control, which sucks (and is a silly omission IMO). The Defender Cobra M5 joystick seems a viable alternative (not many people seem to know about this stick), and paired with the CH Pro Throttle, it's probably a safer bet than anything Saitek or Thrustmaster are putting out there, reliability wise... even more so if they're struggling with demand, as that hardly bodes well for their already shoddy QC.
