Saitek Keyboard not lit properly?

Hi all, i've recently built a new comp - along with it i'm also using a new blue saitek keyboard (this is my second 1 as the 1 i had before stopped working after a year)...

So after plugging it in, turning on the comp - straight away it was gleaming bright blue... now however it's simply stopped lighting up, or it will light half way, and when i press a key the light goes off, and stays off - the little buttons on the top right corner won't bring this back, and the volume control 1's aren't working either. This occurred within about 5 minutes of plugging it in...

What i want to know - is this likely to be a fault with the keyboard, or could it be to do with the USB ports not providing enough power for whatever reason? I would've thought this sort of device would either work, or not, after being plugged in? I am still fighting an uphill battle to get this pc set up properly (OEM parts from a mate), could it be a missing USB motherboard driver causing havoc?

Thanks for any advice :)

I think that it has to be the keyboard, well I suppose it depends where you are plugging it into, its it the Front USB or the on board ones?

It's an onboard USB, i've tried more than 1... it's not lighting up at all now, what a crock of ****, shorting out after 10 seconds
