Saitek R.A.T. 7 Mouse review by NathWraith

It looks absolutely wicked - but it's probably overkill for most peoples needs.

How many extra buttons does it have? I didn't see a mention of it in the OP sorry, must be blind.

It has all the usual mouse buttons.

So left click, right click, wheel up/down, wheel click, forward button, back button, thumbwheel clockwise/anticlockwise, precison aim, mode selector, DPI up/down.

So a fair few buttons :p

Cool cool, thanks.

Christmas is close, I'll add it to my list =)

Got

Love it

Awesome. Just need to accept the fact that its so customisable, it takes a good few hours to get a fit you'll be comfortable with. WORTH the effort though :)

re:

Having issues with the tracking on the R.A.T. can anyone recommend which mouse mat they are using with this mouse or rat:D
Cheers all

what surface do you currently use.

i have used one on a boogie bug mat and it was very nice.
i dont like hard surface mats though.

have you got access to a cloth mat to try it on?
in fairness i havent tried it on a hard surface so that may be the problem

re:

I have not got a cloth mat no, ever since I tried a hard surface mat I have never looked back, the mouse tends to glide so well on the hard surface.
I guess I might not have a choice though.

I'd like to go into this mouse as I've owned it now for 2 weeks.

The mouse concept itself is great, ultimate customization to suit how you play, and the pinky rest is a great feature too. It glides smoothly over the surface and I did notice I got increasingly better when using it.

Now the bad:
The mouse itself isn't level, if you tighten the thumb rest it rocks when you click the mouse button, I tried many times to fix this issue but there was none, apart from getting another pad and putting it under another at the rear of the mouse, which fixed the issue. I wouldn't expect to have to do such a thing for a mouse of this cost.

The issue which just occurred, literally 10 minutes ago was when scrolling through a web page, I felt the scroll wheel make a loud click, and now it doesn't work at all, the scroll wheel is physically broken. I've owned it for 2 weeks and it's already broken after light use. If this mouse was a £30 mouse I wouldn't even expect it to break after a year of use, let alone a £80+ one after 2 weeks. My Razer lachesis which has served me over 2 years is still working flawlessly and feels as good to me as the RAT 7.

I am greatly disappointed in this mouse, and I honestly recommend you to avoid it.
