Hopefully have some spare cash in next couple months. Want to upgrade my aging dell 2007wfp. Been reading bits and pieces and I think I'd like one of the above. I know dell will probably cost more but is it worth more over the sammy.

just purchased the dell u2311h very impressed with the build quality a very sturdy monitor i love all the swivel tilting up/down positioning you can do ,it can even rotate so it looks your reading a paper meant for publishing purposes ,also a very good screen ,perhaps not as good as the apple monitors ive seen ,but nice .ive just calibrated mine with my huey pro but not sure if this needed really looks good out of the tin ,i was a bit suspect at first but some of the chaps on the forum put me right and said i wont regret buying the monitor ,they right up to so far .

I do find myself slanting towards the dell as I already have one. The sammy is nice looks wise though. So wondered if either is better at something more then the other. Or is like the dell much better all round.

If i'm not mistaken the 2007WFP either uses a S-IPS or VA panel, depending which version you got. Hence, if you went for the BX2450 (TN panel) then in many areas you may feel like you're taking a step backwards.

The Dell U2311H, however, uses an E-IPS panel and is generally a very nice all-round monitor. Here is an in-depth review.

If your budget can bear it - I would definitely go with the U2311H.

I'm still looking for a new monitor after a disaster with the 120hz Benq which suffered horrendous backlight bleed and IMO poor picture quality. Others seem to be liking it so maybe mine was a faulty example.

I have three on my shortlist now, two of these are the same as being discussed here, so hope you don't mind me jumping on the bandwagon! The Samsung BX2450 if I go the TN route or either the Dell U2311 or HP ZR24w if I go the IPS route. My uses are solely gaming and surfing. I'm liking the idea of 16:10 aspect with the HP although it is more expensive than both of the others.

I think the main thing is picture/colour quality for me. Would the Dell or the HP really have that much more in terms of picture quality over the Samsung? For the extra expense of the HP would it be better than the Dell? Lag and ghosting don't seem to be a problem on these two monitors with gaming in mind so any help with making a choice would be appreciated.
