Are they any good? I've been considering this or the LG KG800.
Is the headset as good as the SE ones?

Well I have only had it 24 hours so I could only give my initial impressions and not a decent appraisal of what it'll be like long term.

I prefer the look to the LG Chocolate. That's just a personal thing plus the LG is so common, I don't want the same as everyone else, I never owned a V3 for example.

I like the touch senstive parts, I have insensitive fingers so would possibly like the touch sensitive parts to be a little less sensitive.

The screen is fantastic. Really good resolution, really good colours and really clear to look at.

The phone makes a noise everytime I touch anything, I assume I can turn this off somewhere, I prefer a stealthier phone noisewise.

The camera seems pretty good, it is the best camera on a phone that I have ever had. But I never owned a SE 750 / 800 etc. Its a 2mp camera so one up on the LG's 1.3mp.

It is small, I think smaller than the choclate and thinner too. It certainly appears to be although I've not held them side by side.

It takes microSD cards - this is a major plus for me.

The supplied management software and USB cable to allow you to sync your phone worls very well. I've played around with photos and contacts and transferred files and it's all good.

I have not used it as a phone yet lol. So I have no idea what sound quality is like from either end, reception on O2 is better than on T-Mobile though. That's not a phone related issue just something that I noticed as I swapped sims around.

I have not tried the headset out as I'd be unlikely to use a wired headset and more likely to use a BT device.

So to summarise I haven't found anything I don't like about it so far. I've been holding off on upgrading for nearly 6 months as nothing was out that I liked. I wasn't aware of this phone being out until I went to look at phones yesterday and a shop staff girl showed me hers .... ;)

I had been holding out for the Samsung Z700 or Z710 to be released, it was announced as coming soon 12 months ago. I had considered the chocolate, the V3i, the EF91 and a few others. None really appealed and I prefer sliders or flip phones to bar phones otherwise I'd have a W800 or similar.

I'm going to take some more pictures outside because my personal main phone requirements were flip, BT, good camera, memory slot, small and a little bit sexy to look at. It's a slider not a flip but barring that it fits the bill so far. If it was 3g it'd be the business.

There is however a new phone that is of interest to me (being a HTC fan).
It's the HTC STRTrk available in either black or pink. It's pretty cool for a windows 5 flipphone. The wife is already wanting the pink one.

I know i'm being a pain, but is there any chance you could take a picture of the handsfree kit / stereo headphones?

They seem pretty snug in my ears with little chance of falling out. Are you related to Dr Spock or something ;p

aha you plumped for the e900!!

how are the menu's are they lightning fast? etc

Well to me they seem fine ......... but I use my phone in an unusual fashion it is mostly for making and taking calls and for taking photos. I rarely get into the more advanced stuff and I'll bet that in the next 12 months I never listen to more than 3 MP3's on it lol.

The E900 has a pretty decent camera, is small and pocketable and I like the slideryness of it.

I don't have a modern phone to compare menu speeds with to be honest. I have an E700, an Imate Jam and an XDA exec. I'd need a new nokia or SE to make an honest comparison, however I haven't noticed any lag, but I don't know what you'd be expecting in terms of speed. Menus seem good to me, just wish it wouldn't make noises every time I chose an option .... must....read.... the ......flipping..... manual ......
;)

Can you attach your own headset?
Those style don't fit in my deformed ears :(

It uses a bespoke fitment into the phone not a 2.5mm jack therefore you could use your own headset if you like soldering.

OK...... beam me up Spock.......

They are pretty normal in size you'd have to have HUGE ears for them to fall out of them.....

not sure if this will work but try pressing on the down volume on the side, it should turn the noises off IIRC

I read the manual - I feel soiled by having to resort to it but hey.
Pretty much everything from opening or closing the slider to touching a button or receiving an email mms etc can have a sound attached to it.
I've pretty much turned them all off.
Which brings me to my first criticism of the E900.
The ringtones are all well, rubbish. I'd be happy with some fairly plain boring ring ring type thing myself.
You can assign MP3s to ring tones but I always thought that was a bit ....hmm well....

Where can I get some simple plain and functional ring tones, failing that the sound of the tardis... ;)

quite like the look of this.

whats the build/screen quality like?

got any pics?

The screen is stupendously good.
Build quality seems ok to me so far. The slider bit means that things could get inbetween the two sliding halves and I doubt it is a massively robust phone (unlike my old e700).

As a bit of kit it is pretty damn impressive but I think I'll be a little more gentle with it than the old phone.

I can take some pics later on.

Voda are offering this phone free on a 12-month contract for £25 a month with 200 anytime minutes and 250 texts per month which seems a reasonable deal?
