This may sound hard to believe, but I have tested this by using the drive on and off. On days where I use it for a few minutes even the high pitched whine from the drive somehow influences my hearing until I have quite serious tinnitus that lasts a whole day, even away from the computer.

When I disable the drive the problem goes away. I know there is a chance this is psychological but regardless the tinnitus is quite bad and certainly coincdides with buying my Samsung F3.

Have I gone mad or are these sorts of things known to cause tinnitus?

Hmm, has to be said I hear very strange high pitched sounds from the box under my table.

Confirmed again a few weeks ago by turning everything off in my room for a bit.

I never got Tinnitus but my old Raptor X was SO loud. Grinding away like a chainsaw (but they all do).

I never noticed at the time, but after I got a laptop with an SSD I can't stand it any more, I hate using my desktop PC :p

Well not wishing to add anything medical to the thread, the safest course of action is to shoot yourself in the head. That way you won't hear any funny noises anymore, and better yet, it's advice no sensible doctor would ever give you.
