Samsung Galaxy S26 Family Thread

I guess it really depends on your situation. If your battery in your S24U isn't as good as it once was, then upgrading to S26U for £100 wouldn't be too bad.
Just don't expect too much in terms of hardware.

My battery is fine. Been using it at 80% since i got it. It probably isn't as good as day 1, but nothing that has an impact on me.

yeah the bump is intrusive or is it obtrusive

i got the charging pucks and put the official samsung screen protectors on mine
hate the official free plastic cases!!!

now i need a couple of decent cases

What colour & GB did you go for?
Went for Silver Shadow, 512GB (currently not filling the 128GB S21 so should be massive overkill).

Looks like the case and screen protector are still slated to arrive by Friday so I either need to be very careful with it wait & hope for a pull forward from Spigen.

All setup now and so far, so good.

Display issues are very overblown, the only complaints I have are the privacy display on the normal setting isn't actually that effective with contrasty things on screen, you can still make out content from an angle, you need the maximum mode for the best effect. Even with the privacy display on (normal mode), the screen still looks very good. The viewing angles are weaker but again, only really noticeable with mostly white background. The other annoying thing is the camera bump, it is really extreme so if you don't use a case, it will be annoying, especially if you use your phone whilst it is on the desk. Cameras look like a noticeable upgrade after all too

Reading this tells me not to even bother if i cam sell my S24U and add £100 on top to upgrade.

I think S27U might offer a better leap making the time spent moving over worth it.

For £100, it is a no brainer imo. When GS27u comes out, you'll get far more money for trade in with this than your gs24 ultra so overall, the cost will still work out less.

I've since made a couple of small changes, as the screen wasn't quite looking right to me and they were:
1. Screen mode (Vivid) and set white balance down a notch, to the second from the left (Cool). This has helped setting the whiteness inline to how my S24U looked (that was ok set in the middle)

2. Something was really bothering me with the icons, which were making my eyes go funny. Having looked online, they added some weird shading in One UI 8.5, so after changing this within Good Lock / Theme Park, they look much more like they were on the S24U.

So a couple of minor changes, but for me at least, made a big difference to the screen.

As Nexus18 has pointed out, I think the whole screen / text discussion has been really overblown and I wouldn't be surprised if that's been released as some form of sabotage!

The hassle though :p

This phone still feels new and fast.

My earbuds just arrived. They have a much improved fit to the buds 3 pro and a much deeper bass. I am going to have to have a little play to get them sounding as I like but the bass and fit is a great improvement,

Hi,
What did you change in Goodlock for No2?

Thanks

Hi,

Bear in mind it may determine on what icons you use, but for me I think mine are just the default plain ones.

I went in to Good Lock and then Theme Park, followed by icons. I created new and then selected Effects, Emboss and set all the sliders to 0. Then saved and applied.

Obviously this may not be for everyone and it could possible you don't see any difference, but for me it did.

I'm just keeping the display mode set to natural.
I think I've used Vivid since the S23U from memory, as the screen seemed to change and I found Vivid more to my liking and the colours better. Again, I know its a personal thing, as some like really bold colours, others like it toned down a bit, we all see things differently :)

Just to add as a positive, the weight of the S26U is far better than the S24U, especially when being used one handed.

Back on the S23 Ultra, I used the hidden Amoled Cinema screen mode instead of the Vivid/Natural, it looked better to my eyes and targetted DCI-P3.
I tried to do the same thing on the S26Ultra, however the hiddle toggle I used last time seems to be locked out now.

Anyone know if there is still a way to access the other hidden display modes on this gen?

I'm much happier with mine now that I've reverted to OG bottom of the screen gestures. Just can't get on with the new ones!

Pleased with the Spigen case and screen protector also. As much as I'd like to use the device bare, or get the most out of the anti reflective screen I just can't risk damage to a 4 figure device. And...you kind of need a case for magnet accessories/wireless charging alignment anyway.

I see there giving away samsung rewards points for a review of the buds 4 pro now.

Just got the email saying if you leave a review they will give you....

5000 points for a text review

10000 for a picture review.

So free £10 for a picture review in your samsung rewards for me.
