most decent hdtvs have a 1080p resolution just like a lot of monitors so the resolution is exactly the same and it should be just as clear using dvi or hdmi connection. also now days hdtvs have good response times and refresh rates of 100hz+... i see no reason not to use a nice hdtv as a pc display.
Thanks for the replies, yeah the one I am looking at 100Hz motion plus and 1080p plus an added advantage is I should get better frames rates as the video card wont be drawing as many rows well in theory any ways
The 100Hz thing isn't true 100Hz - the tv inserts frames it extrapolates from other frames to create smoother motion, it doesn't actually refresh the screen 100 time/sec.
There may also be input lag issues due to the extra picture processing time unless you bypass them with Game Mode or something similar.
Samsung LCD TV will work great on a computer. I have been using an older 40" one myself for about 2+ Years. Ignore the 100Hz stuff as the real refresh is just 60hz and as mentioned above its just the TV's innards doing some jiggery pokery to make it appear as 100hz. Your PC will see it as a 60hz monitor. As far as 1 to 1 pixel mapping Samsung TV's have a "Just Scan" option which sorts all that out for perfect 1:1 and no blurry text or images.
