Got a Samsung LE26R41B 26" HD to compliment my 360 about 2-3 months ago, and i've noticed a high pitched electrical whine when the units in standby. I've only noticed it recently, and there are no other obvious issues (no interference, display is unaffected etc). As soon as I take the unit out of standby the whine/whistle goes.

Anyone else noticed this with theirs? Should I be worried?

Well i have the 32" version and i havent noticed any high pitched whine but then i havent really paid any attention tbh.
Sounds like it could be faulty, id send it back for a replacement tbh just in case something happens later on down the line etc.

Hmm yeh I was considering that. Strangely if I turn the unit on and it has no input, it kinda puts itself into a different kind of standby and doesn't whine. So i've left it like that.

Only got VGA connected and tried that, it whines with or without that connected. Its just weird how it ONLY does it in standby. I'm pretty sure theres no fault, just one of those things I guess.

I think i'll try unplugging all other devices (amp, speakers, etc) nearby and try that.

Does it sound like a high pitched tinging noise? (hard to describe :)) because mine makes that sort of noise whenever its in standby as well (same 26" model as yours) and as you say if the screen just automatically shuts off (e.g. the PC goes into standby or something) then it doesnt make it, it only makes it when the red light on the on button is permanently on.

Just put it down as a querk of the model and nothing to worry about (tbh it doesnt really annoy me i've had it since Christmas) be interested to know if it is a fault though?

Absolutely bang on same thing mate. Yeh I was just curious if it was an actual issue thats going to get worse or not. I guess as already advised changing the panel will be safest, but its a lot of hassle. I'm happy to leave it in its alternate standby mode (light flashing) aslong as thats not drawing stupid amounts more power or shortening the life of the panel.
