Whats the best app to test the speed of the above drive
Just used CrystalDiskMark 5.2.0 and got a read of 1775, is that right?

It was bought as a bundle, so who ever installed it and overclocked it @ ocuk set the bios to x2 and not x4.
It is now reading @ 3244 and not 1775 write is now also 1535

Not sure if the oc has been done right TBH so will go over all the settings again this week as i go along

Yes, it`s a very nice drive indeed.
I have the 512Gb version and get read/write speeds of 3170/1685.

I buying one today the 256GB.

I have a question people talk about loading the Samsung/HP NVM Express driver after the windows 10 drivers to improve performance.

Someone said that you can now use the Samsung NVM Express Driver 2.1 within windows 10 as this now contains support for the SM961 is this correct?

Yes, it will give you better performance than the Windows NVMe driver. Go to Samsung`s website and download the driver (Version 2.1) for the 960 PRO.

hi do you know how this drive compares to the 960 evo, or are they one and the same essentially.

I was going to buy the 960 Evo 250Gb but decided to go with the SM961 Polaris 256GB for my new Ryzen setup after reading the review below.

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/samsung-960-evo-nvme-ssd-review,review-33704-3.html

The Samsung 960 Evo 250Gb did not perform well, the SM961 256Gb performed better. The price of the drives have also increased since the review, but I found a good deal on the SM961.

SM961 is only OEM so not firmware/software support from Samsung and is green in colour. The 960 EVO is retail so you may get a firmware update and you can use Samsung software and the board is black.
