As the tittle says. Is there any in that aint too far to London. I have been to brighton before but it has a rocky/gravel shore. Any help appreciated thanks as me and the family is looking to go to one once summer starts. :)

COOL! I hadn't even heard that they were doing this! Have you gone to have a look?

Bournemouth is a lovely beach.

I was going to say Goring by the sea but apparently that's only sandy at low tide, I always remember it being sandy as a kid though, must have always gone there at low tide :p

Edit: That link lists loads of beaches in the UK and gives a description of each.

Closest to London that I know of is Climping beach near Littlhampton. Its a large sandy beach with great big sand dunes.

No but it opens next weekend so I might have to go and have a gander.

Bournemouth is probably the best beach, go down toward durley chime is the nicest bit i'd say.
Too far down you get lots of annoying little kids, the bit up by the pier is pretty scummy too. Plus durley chime is close to a nice lil pub, th ename escapes me.

Anyway, bournemouth.

Poole, bit far away from London but Sandbanks is real nice :)

Don't go to Weston-Super-Mare, we were there last year and my fiancee nearly got herself sucked into some quicksand! Serves us right for walking out past the warning signs at low tide :p

When we went to WSM there were turds all over the beach and in the water. There were people letting their donkies defecate all over the place. Grim place, and to top it off there was a slug in my salad. :o

Walton on the naze, like hour and a half drive to Colchester then about 20 mins to walton, train station as well.

Then on the same strech is frinton, clacton.

Many memories there!! :p

A nice beach is one thing, a sea that's actually fun to swim in is a whole other topic. Come over to Greece, it's 40c right now and it's damn good weather for a swim. :p
