Just installed this card in an HTPC machine. Case is an Antec Fusion V2. Are they normally this hot? It's a passive card so wasn't expecting very low temps but these seems really hot for idle.

Removed the heatsink and reapplied the paste. The stuff that Sapphire puts on this card is horrific, it's like trying to get cement of a brick. Anyway, finally got it off (42 cotton buds later) and put some Zalman paste on it. Got it down to 64c - 66c from 79 - 81c. Placed a 120mm Antec TriCool over it on low setting and now at 41c so that'll do me... barely any place to put the fan though so kinda hovering around, guess it's fine as long as the case isn't moved abruptly.

Think that's the first and only time I'll buy a passive card!

IMHO, passive are worth getting purely to stick a fan on them, and you'll have better potential for lower temps than the standard heatsink/fan setup with non-passive versions (at least that's my way of thinking).

Use cable ties to secure the card :)
