2 of these in crossfire would be awesome.. tri may be overkill given the cost.. if they are expensive..

2 of these would be more overkill than tri! also this should rip the pants off everything except 4870x2

It's said that the 4850x2 will start at £220 in europe, and with up to 8-14% to 30-33% improvement over GTX 280 assuming the driver profiles are setup/game supports dual gpus.

OMG. Here's my idea and what me and my mates did a couple of years ago.
Return flights to Ljubljana inc taxes £19.99
All day drinking from 11am to 4pm next morning including meals £30 (I jest you not!)
Hotel room 2 nights £60
All day drinking again including food £30
Total spend £140.
Now that's value for money!

If you look at how much a 4870x2 is versus a 4870 1gb, the 4850x2 should be around £237.
Still superb value for money for what is really two 4850 1gb cards in xfire.

think he got slightly confused over tri (single cards) and tri x2
tri with this x2 + a single card is probably more than anyone would realistically need (and even then, Im not entirely sure how much improvement you will get at any res between an x2 and an x2 + single card

Well, the 4870X2 is pretty much exactly twice the price of two 512MB 4870's, it was a similar story for the 3870X2 and 3870 IIRC, I think we can expect similar things in respect to the 4850 and 4850 X2.
Err your missing the point, the 4870X2 has 2gb of ram so you are comparing it to the wrong 4870 (especially since gddr5 memory is so expensive) but even by your comparison you are getting 1gb of extra memory for eactly doucle the price.

The thing is it won't end that cheap as it will be competing with the 4870.
What it needs to do is fill the gap between the 4870 and the 4870x2 price wise and performance wise putting it in diection competition agaisnt the gtx280.

I reckon it will and the 4870 will drop slightly. They are going to want it to cream all over the GTX260+ fro simialr money.

(but normally get bus early and go to a friends neer by but spend 20 on beer to take to friends for a few hours)
drinks in pubs befor clubs: 20 spread over about 5 pubs.
entry to all of about 6 clubs in the town: 36
drinks in each of them clubs: 20, x 6
total 196 quid
and on the 4850x2 side, will it be crossfire-x able with a 4870x2 cause it looks tempting to try it
