I eventually took the plunge and decided to go with ATI instead of NVidia.
I previously had 2x8800gt sc and a triple head to go digital on 3x24" dell monitors giving me a resolution of 5040x1050.
Now I thought maybe the eyefinity route hence the latest purchase of a 5870. Also allowing a far greater resolution.
My monitors dont have a native displayport which I was aware of so I therefore require an active display adaptor to convert the displayport to dvi.

I know people have had success using a displayport to vga adapter at a lesser cost but most seem to be having problems with them.

Sapphire have produced an active displayport adapter as mentioned in previous threads.

After much googling I have found a site ready to recieve stock on the 10th Jan.

My question is, does anybody know anywhere that has them in stock ( in the UK please) ?

best bet is to google shopping dp to dvi adapter, go into shopping on UK search and phone some suppliers, I found 1 that will have them 4th jan 2010, unfortunatly dont know how to pm haha! :)

thanks for the pointer,

i still dont get it tho as my passive dp to dvi-d works fine but i can only get 2 monitors @ a time working :(

i have all three monitors showing in the catalyst but just cant link them all up :(

hmmm i am still flicking between monitors and wondering if i cannot duplicate all three as they are not the same resolution?

lol im determined to make this work lol..

They all need to be the same res.

Also, 24" monitors run at 1920x1200, are you sure you've got 24" screens at 1680x1050?

Viewsonic VA2413WM 24" LCD Monitor 1920x1080

Philips 240SW9FS TFT 24" TFT Monitor 1920x1200

So I imagine there could have been others in the past lol.

EDIT:

G2400W Black 24

The above came in 1680x1050 (just search 24" 1680x1050 in google lol.

Screens have come in different resolutions at the same size since they were released.

G2400W you say? It doesn't come with a res of1680x1050.

24" monitors currently are either 1920x1200 or 1920x1080 depending on their aspect ratio.

Nothing less.

I didn't say 1920x1200 is the only res they come in, I said it's the standard res (only recently 1920x1080).

What I did say is that they DON'T come in 1680x1050.

However, that's irrelevant, the point still stands, 24" monitors will all be 1920 pixels wide, and you need to run all the screens at the same res for eyefinity to work.

Like you said you can only get 2 monitors working at a time :)
For 3 monitors you need one monitor going through display port, via a native monitor or active adapter.
