SAPPHIRE RX 480 NITRO NOW AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER AT OVERCLOCKERS UK (WORLD FIRST) !!!

Is the MSI priced higher because it's a better card or because of limited supply, or a combination? There has been limited supply on the sapphire and powercolor up to now and those prices haven't risen.

Having had both cards, the MSI is definitely worth the extra. I managed to pick the MSI up for only £7 more than the Nitro. I think it may be worth an additional 10-20. Can show photos of both next to each other for comparison. Major advantages are rooted in a better cooling solution which leads to a cooler and quieter card.

At least the military should give you a decent price for your PSU.

I was recommended to use the uninstall > AMD clean util > safemode DDU >reinstall process to update my drivers, and it worked (for the most part -- a few extra reboots were needed). I guess you've tried that?

Welcome home, btw.

Could you give me a bit more details on those steps?

I've done the lazy way by installing drivers and if those dont work then I do non-safe mode DDU and then re-install.

Loose bearing in one of the fans which caused a prety bad rattle noise when under load.

I thought i could just get a new fan shipped out to me.. but OCUK wanted the whole card back.

DPD picked it up yesterday.. arrived back at OCUK just after 11am this morning and they had a replacement card dispatched by 14:50. Legends.

Huge shout out to Bailey at OCUK. :)

Thanks Bro :)

Bailey

I think there is something wrong with my voltages

On another note, got back from Thailand today to see my OcUK package awaiting me, I ripped it open and slapped my new 480 in there only to be greeted with a crippling flickering problem that none of the 4 sets of drivers I tried could resolve.

I think my 480 is DOA >:(

What monitor are you using?

Currently there are issues with 144Hz displays. Dropping down to 120Hz seems to stop the issue.

Yeah the two I got both flicker. You can run at 144 uninstall drivers, re-install and don't ever open the control centre. Once you do the flickering starts. Not much of a solution I know lol.

Anyway I sent my first nitro back a couple of weeks back. It had scratches on plate. Little bit of coil whine and after gaming hit. 77c which is fine.

New one however doesn't go over 71c! Has literally zero coil whine. Ear to the card has it silent and fans haven't gone over 750rpm while gaming so totally silent.

Very pleased with this card!

It seems like OcUK is still the only one with the RX 480 Nitro in stock but before i order i would like to know how RMA shipping will work for a country not included in your DPD Europe list (like Serbia)?

Wow, that's amazing. What is your ASIC quality for the card?

What you playing? Solitaire?

The fan only runs at 750rpm with the CPU at >70 degrees?

Something doesn't seem right with that.

Decided the stock Sapphire RX 470 @ £170 was too tempting and couldn't justify the extra £22 for the MSI one or the extra £40 for the RX480 4GB from Sapphire. Checking performance I don't think for myself it is much slower in the games I'll be playing at 1080p.

Will be going eventually in a smaller mATX case soon so the blower style fan should help exhaust the heat out better.

Should get my new toy tomorrow.

I too was looking at the RX 470 but went with the 480 4GB but from what I've seen of the 470 benchmarks it looks like a stonking card for the price and is able to get pretty close to the performance of the 480.

Enjoy when you get it tomorrow, get your games, drivers, benchmark tools all downloaded today and ready to go for tomorrow. :)

I just ordered the Sapphire Radeon RX 480 Nitro+ 4096MB

I game at 1080p anyway.

To be honest im probably gona resell it when or just after Vega comes so i'll use it to tide me over until then.. hopefully much better than my Sapphire Dual X 7950 which has done really well for over 4 years.

Hopefully my new Sapphire card will arrive tomorrow :)

Just ordered 2 Nitro+ OC 8GBs, after the Swedish store bumped their estimated delivery from the 20th of August to 4th September (from originally 6th of August). Only question now, how long does DHL Express shipping take, and does it come to the house or a pickup place?

Me too. Had mine for a week.

Same here.

And it is a very nice upgrade from the 7950 to the 480 -- not world changing, but at 1080p we can say goodbye to most of the 'graphics settings balancing' we've had to do over the last year or two. :)

Oh cool cheers for that, nice info.. do you play Arma 3/Battle Royale? I'd like to know if i can max out the settings with 2xMSAA and still keep 60fps.. cheers :)

Yeah, I love ARMA, but offline only. Haven't played more than a few minutes since getting the 480. I wouldn't say I've got everything maxed out, but certainly most of the settings are at max, draw distance much further than I ever used previously, and I'm holding 60 fps pretty much everywhere. I'm not using MSAA though. Pulling up the optics is so much smoother than it was before, and generally the experience is a lot better than with the 7950 (even if that was still very capable for 40-50 fps at decent settings). Yeah, its a good experience mate.

EDIT: Actually I think I played it on the 21:9 I bought and returned, which was 2560x1080, so the situation is probably better than I described above.

Thanks for that, i really appreciate the intel :D I'll come back and let you know how i get on with Arma once i have the 480 installed :)

Yes last update from Sapphire was no update on none OC and will be closer to end of this month, so fingers crossed end of next week.

Do the non OC nitro versions have different ram chips on them or something? Seems a little odd that you can get vast quantities of Oc versions yet none of the standard?
