**SAPPHIRE TOXIC 6GB 7970 GHZ NOW AVAILABLE FROM OcUK!!**

Which Plasma do you plan to buy I'm looking for a new telly which one do you recommend?

it has to be a Panny, but nothing Smart, just get a very good bog standard 1080p Panny.... you dont need any of that fancy internet smart tv stuff for gaming only..... get a 50'' Panny next Jan for 600 quid :)

Panny are the best, we have a 42'' G20, it's brilliant on HD..... mind you, a bog standard Panny will work fine as a monitor screen anyway.

Samsung are great too, they're all great, but none of them are quite as good as the Panny, the Panny unfortunately is a bit ugly, it has a thick black border, i dont know why they look so lacking in style ( compared to the Samsung)..... they just do !!!

No television is that good for gaming.

RUBBISH.... :p Deux Ex looks excellent on my Sony 55''

in fact Deus Ex looks way better than the 1st Crysis for sure, it has a cleaner sharper image, i think they realise that lots of people game via big screens nowadays

120hz or gtfo with your TV.

no mine is only 60 HZ, but i think the 42'' panny is 120 HZ...i'm not sure without checking online.

most modern tvs will have a perfect screen image, (unlike 7 years ago), it's just a personal preference really... Panny, LG or Samsung..... plasma or backlight LED... BOTH ARE GOOD ENOUGH, but dont get a normal LED, blacks aren't as good and they still suffer from motion blur, large screen LEDs will always suffer from this.

in the future we'll have OLED plus LASER RPTV and at high resolution too

There are tens of millions of console owner who may argue with that. Many current Plasma and LCD TV's have response times that would shame gaming monitors of just a few years ago.

They cant compare with what they've never had...120hz and HD+ monitors are irrelevant for console gamers. Besides, most of those still argue over which console is better than the other lol..

at the end of the day you're stretching a 22'' screen image to fit a 55'' screen, so a tv is bound to look bad compared to a much smaller monitor, but it's far more complicated than this, because HD SKY TV looks great, almost real, but Computer game/generated animations STILL look dreadful, especially the faces... i.e when you see Adam talking in Deus Ex, he looks like he's made out of wood.... even today, this look no better now than 6 years ago... but the rest of the maps look great..... it's the cut scenes that look so bad

its not the tv that's the fault, the maps dont have enough detail/ realism and you really notice this on a big screen....you get up close and take a look at door handles/ flower pots etc... they look rubbish on a big screen... but not on HD TV!

take a look at Poser 9 3D that looks very realistic even on a 55'' screen, but a gaming engine looks dreadful in comparison.... Deus Ex looks like Poser 3, from about 10 years ago...

what looks good now is light rendering/ colouring/ atmosphere etc and everything at mid to far range, but everything up close still looks as bad as it did 5 years ago

Completely tangential point though. You don't generally plug a console into a PC monitor.

Doesn't look anywhere near as good on my 24" BenQ 120hz monitor. Not bragging - it just doesn't. TV's are rubbish for PC gaming even if you disable all the post processing stuff which most of them employ.

120hz or gtfo with your TV.

Agree with the point but not the manner of it :). As above, 120hz is a huge benefit. And the fact the pixels per inch is much higher on a 22-24" monitor than a TV screen.

Same computer, same game, same settings:
S27A950D>46" Sony 100hz

Indeed.

Of course it's the TV at fault. It's a 1920*1080p resolution stretched over a huge screen. It's not the games which don't have enough detail/realism - it's the fact your TV is stretching the image out to fit the screen size.

Yeah, it also does depend on how far away you sit from your TV.

From my normal seating from both, the sammies look a lot better than my telly

As we game generally no further than 3-4ft from the screen with monitors, any discrepency in pic quality will be noticed on 1080P. As others have said, if we game on a PC with TV, I am sitting at least 14ft from the screen so our perception isn't as sharp. If you sat 3-4ft from the TV, trust me you will notice the lack of clarity (unless you know no different).

i sit 8ft away from 55'' and the faults only show up in cut scenes or anything shown at close range..... but his arms/ weapons look fine as they do in other games too. it doesn't really spoil the game it's just worth mentioning.

so if the guns look fine etc.... on a 55'' screen... why dont the walls, doors, windows, objects, textures etc...... sorry guys but something here doesn't make sense does it.

because on my screen i can see scratchers on the gun metal, the Manufacturers writing/ flipping everything...... (you can even in Borderlands) but the door handles/ flower pots etc look Krap... so yet again i say, the tv resolution is fine, it's the game... it's not optomised for a large screen, you look at the tables/ chairs they look awfall, but the Assult rifle on the floor looks great and it's at the same range isn't it.

the game developers are only detailing the guns/AI, the tables/ chairs etc are only modelled very basically, stored in a library and cut and paste into the map, this cheap and nasty slack arse junk really shows, i want to see the Wood Screws, the wood grain etc.

CRYSIS 3 is already made.... yea' they're useing the same maps as Crysis 2 or maps they havent used, and simply importing the vegetation from the 1st Crysis and showing New York as a semi jungle/ Far Cry..... ok it looks way more interesting than the 2nd game, but it's a bit of a bloody cheek isn't it, too bloody lazy to make a new game

I bought Red Orchestra 2 GOTY edition on steam for £3.49. Even on my Asus VG278H monitor it looks chuffing awful.

The games you are playing Mal are old...Try BF3 or MAx Payne 3 or Skyrim or Dirt 3/showdown and then try on a decent monitor and see what we are talking about.

no, Deus Ex isn't old, it's a brand new game out this year !!!!!! it's what i'm playing right now, i only have this and Vegas 2 on my new rig, all my other games on Steam i dont want to download any more....it takes too flipping long to be bothered.

i'm now waiting for BORDERLANDS 2, FAR CRY 3 plus GHOST SNIPER 2

i dont want BF3 !!!!! too much like COD....i need say no more, i'd much rather have Serious Sam 3 again, a real man's game ;)

i was after Future Soldier as well, but that's too broken right now, i might get this when FAR CRY 3 is out

The point is your TV is exacerbating the problem by stretching a smallish resolution over a massive screen. Your TV is making it worse.

yea deffo, i think i'll go down to 50'' next year, mine is more like 54.2'', it's not quite 55''.

a 60'' screen would be even worst, especially on SD and 42 to 46'' is too small, because we also have a 42'' and it's like a postage stamp, but the image is brilliant, even on SD.
