A driver, stranded after he drove into a river, said his sat-nav system guided him in there.

The mini-bus driver was on his way to collect a fare in Castle Acre, near King's Lynn, Norfolk, when he took a wrong turn into the River Nar.

Pat Bowles, from Streamline Taxis, said: "Normal people would stop and back out but because his sat-nav told him to keep going that's what he did.

"I don't think he did think until he couldn't go any further."

Beeb.

The name of the Taxi company is so fitting. :D

LOL!!!

Danmc07 came within inches of driving into a canal due to sat nav in an area he had never been in..

The sat nav sent him up the side of a canal for like 10 mins LOL!!!

how are people so thick, do they drive staring at the sat nav. He should be charged with driving without due care and attention.

Satnav is there as a guide only.. you don't follow its every instruction

What ever happened to common sense ?

I've use Sat nav extensively in my delivery job and even in the wilds of the lincolnshire worlds, to the depths of the scabbiest fens, to urban decay of Peterborough and Nottingham through to the indescribable hell hole that is our nations capital, have i EVER encountered a situation where the magic box tries to drive me into a river. or up a mud track.

I wonder if this is the kind of guy who takes the expression 'Go over the roundabout', as an opportunity to get some off-road fun straight over the thing :D

Sat navs effectively disable a drivers common sence.

They guide you to places without you having to bother to take notice where you are actually going.

At work, it never ceases to amaze me when I hear a driver say "I can't go there, I have not got my Satnav" meaning, without it, they are lost.

Whatever happened to good old road craft & map reading?
