Satisfactory Alpha release

Maybe one day I'll try again haha
It's a lot easier to start from scratch when you know what you are doing, you can plan for expansion in later tiers and make life far easier for yourself, I think I've started from scratch at least four times now lol.

I'll be starting again from scratch, I've built and rebuilt from scratch many setups over the years so I've got no issue with beginning again :)
If there's one thing I like doing, it's starting something from scratch. Is also why I hardly ever finish games because I get bored because I replay the same parts too many times.
This however is different and I've actually never played it lol.

well with the node changes and map changes ect and addition of the story elements it makes it a bit more worth while. less confussion over previous itterations and a fresh start i feel

I've restarted so many times I've lost count. I always tend to goto the same spot however, which near the northern forest. A spot that overlooks a large gorge, with a geyser spot below and the northern oil fields kinda close.
A very popular starting spot, the local nodes have been changed for 1.0 so it's not going to be as great as it is currently.

I did desert start last time, I've done North West before too, might try grasslands as the nodes have been improved? somewhat I read

grasslands is the starter position so it makes sence they'd want that to be nice. but honestly when i played that was a sweet location already with the only things being awayz was oil / Bauxite from memory. Crystal was a pain scaling the clip but worth it. as you got access to Bauxite / Uranium / Crystal.
Derset really looks to be the best location for starting looking at the interactive map

never has bean, and they said it wouldnt be in future either.
makes me wonder if the community might try random map gen and SEEDS

I can see pros and cons. On one hand, as you learn about where stuff is, you can make a conscious choice how difficult you want to make the game for yourself. As opposed to it being random and you potentially having a really gimped start or whatever.
However, it also brings the problem that if you become too familiar with it, then I guess that's just one less thing or element to spice things up.

thats true, but its realy difficault to do 3d mapgeneration. Minecraft is probably a good example of doing it well but its with limitations, and voxal based.

map generation is a highly requested feature. im hopefully once the initial release 1.0 is done they might work on a map gen feture. they wont be under the same constraints, and it be an investment for future games and possibily "leased" to other companies as well. much like the PA game engine is in Dyson Sphere program.

Jace :'( he left us!!!
