Saving many outlook emails at once

I have a hotmail account.
I couldn't see any option to back up my emails as a precaution.
So, I installed Outlook 2007 and set it up fine to manage my hotmail account.
I now have the folder of interest with some 100 emails in there I would like to save to my hard drive.

Can they all be saved in one go, so hassle free?
Don't mind if each emails ends up as an individual file or all of them saved as one
What versions can I save them as? HTML or a text file would be easier to open from almost anywhere but not a requirement.

If someone could point me in the right direction, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks in advance.

Assuming the Hotmail account doesn't do anything odd to Outlook:

1. File > Import and Export...
2. Export to a file
3. Export to a Personal Folder file (.pst)
4. Select the folders/subfolders you want to backup
5. Specify a location and click Finish

I believe if there is a problem with the online hotmail account you couldn't use this pst to restore the emails back to the web interface. But you can open the PST in Outlook and see the emails

I'm not fussed about being to restoring them.

Just tried the above, but when I double click the backup.pst file, it just opens up a new blank email (ready to be typed in etc) with said .pst file as attachment.

You have to open it from within Outlook - File > Open > Outlook Data File...

Thanks. That works. Does that mean that if I were to copy this file to another computer, even offline, I could read those emails?
