Im planning on going to thailand next year and i need save up money, depending on how quick i can save it up the quicker i can go.
I earn about £200 a week, heres my outgoings:
£40 a week rent
£35 every two weeks taken out
£20 a week motorbike lessons
£5 a month petrol:p
£35 a month gym

So its a bout £80ish pounds a week, which aint much at all. So that leaves me with about £120 a week, i usually spend about £50 a week on dvd/games and the rest i save. But for the last couple months ive been spending quite a bit. I bought a motorbike about a month ago for £1200 then the insurance that was £400 odd so that zapped my money down. Now its xmas ive been buying presents for everyone and still got quite a few people to do. Plus with my spending on material stuff, like today i spent £130 on dvds and games:eek:

My outgoings is pretty accurate as there aint anything else, i dont drink or smoke so thats saving me a lot of money. I consider myself quite disciplined in other areas of my life like im careful about what i eat, i go gym three times a week and i never miss a session because i cant be assed. So i know i can save, but for some reason every time as it nears xmas i treat myself a bit more that i usually do, and of course presents for my family, so it builds up.

Anyway i would love some advice, i aint got a deadline on when i want to go to thailand but i would like to go ASAP maybe about march/april.

Im all for having a laugh, but now its time for helpful advice please:)

RobbieG im guessing you live in london, sadly im from somerset so its too far to meet you. If you want we could meet halfway i charge £30 for the first hour after that im on double rate.

Do what I do mate and ditch buying DVD's and PS3 games unless its something like COD. Also I cut down on my regular partying. Its shocking to see how much you save by not going out drinking as much as you used to.

The way look at it, no matter what you splash your cash on these days to make you happy, it will never beat a holiday in thailand. I know, I am heading for the second time in a year :)

cheers mate. I know i can save a lot of money by cutting down to games/dvds that i really want. But i just end up buying games/dvds that i might like, rather than not spending anything at all on that week.
Im gonna go through a list of games/dvds that i really want and only buy them, that should help.

Ditch DVD'/Games, and cut the Gym for a bit. Hopefully it should help. And if you get any presents you don't need, sell.

April would be a great time to go, the songkran festival is 13th-15th. And I'm definately going to be there. :D

As for saving, I'm pretty lucky, I work in a hotel and live in the staff accomodation. So I don't pay any bills or anything so I'm free to save a fair bit. No Way I'd be able to afford it otherwise.

Couldn't agree with this more. After my first trip all this stuff just seemed like an utter waste of money compared to saving to go back!

be rest assured that thai hookers are cheap then
Myth! A decent one will cost you the best part of a ton per night easy! ;)

Nice comeback, but no, I don't live in London (thank god).

Somerset explains a lot - my parents live in Wiltshire and I know all about you Somerset folk ;).

WE'LL BE THE JUDGE OF THAT LAWL

I like you i'd love to slap a piece of lettuce on your butt, while shouting and swearing;)

Been some helpful advice plus i think ive made a new friend on here (possibly a new relationship) keep them coming. One thing i will not budge on is giving up the gym thats my church. But im willing to cut down on my games and dvds.
