I was walking in Clapham today and i saw an Audi car with their LED lights on, not the main headlights but just the LED circles underneath the main headlight part. If that makes sense. :p

An hour later i saw another Audi with the same lights on.

WHY?! Sunniest day of the year!

Coincidence they were both Audis...?

I'm surprised that this is the first time you've witnessed such an occurrence. DRL's have been common on most new cars for a few years now.

Daytime Running Lights are now required by European law, so all new cars will have them. You can't turn them off.

It is meant to reduce accidents but I tend to find them quite glaring sometimes.

I remember reading something about the laws originally to do with wild animals being more alert to vehicles with lights on, even during the day, so was meant to reduce deer strikes and the like in the nordic countries, remember Volvo and SAAB always used to have DRL's as standard decades ago. However, I don't see how they will help much here, if you can't see a car in daylight then you shouldn't be on the road.

I don't drive and i guess i haven't really been looking out for them. :)

Interesting information. Thanks.

My 17 year old volvo had drl, also I ran my mondeo today with the lights on as it had just been to the garage to fix a problem with its moving headlights and I wanted to check it worked.

Im always seing cars with their fogs on sunny clear days, aint that illegal??

It is, 3 points a light IIRC.

Also there's a petition running to have people who use them during wet weather to be taken outside and shot in front of their families.

People who install HID's into their fogs will be destroyed by a surface to air missiles.
