Scared of heights?/crazy Russians (vid)

At least if he fell his friends could remember him by just using his remains as a t-shirt transfer,

Heights, two pairs of socks on make me ill...........

For every one video which stays on YouTube of people doing pull ups on cranes or walking round 900ft towers, there are hundreds of people doing the same thing and falling off. Idiots, like that kid who misjudged that jump into the water. One of the worst things I've ever seen on the internet. I do thank people like this because it makes ME far more careful.

lol this is nothing in comparison to the construction workers at the start of the century

No idea which kid you mean, but I agree that there isn't much difference between this kind of OMG video and a snuff video. One slip between them and certain death.

Thing is... even without the internet, kids will do stupid things and hurt themselves. You can't blame the internet for propagating things like this. Sure it makes it spread quicker, but doesn't mean people will go doing stupid things. There's just more information availability these days rather than any more stupid people or risk takers.

Some kid who.... ugh. Let's just say he hit the side and not the water when jumping off a large structure.

Ooh, I don't know about that. I would say quite a lot of these stunts are done purely so they can be uploaded to YouTube and the world will think they're cool. YouTube has in no way started the trend, I agree, but I think it's certainly added fuel to it.

People die motorcycle racing, sky-diving and rock climbing and end their lives and affect their friends lives forever every day, sometimes through stupidity and sometimes through accident.

With any sport or hobby like these then serious injury or even death is of course possible. What I'm saying is that through these activities, training is done and various safety measures are implemented to lessen the chances without dumbing down the sport too much.

What these kids are doing is daft. We all were (or are) at some point to various degrees, but they are going a little too far in my view.

Sure there will be some copying, of course, but people will push the boundaries irrespective of the internet. It's just the way we behave.
