Ok, you may or may not have already tried this or read about it somewhere.
I was just browsing the internet the other day I noticed someone worrying that Vista will eat more watts just sitting on the desktop with it now being all wizzy and fancy using the gfx card.
Now this had me worried because like at home I'm already concious about my new PC with its 8800
Anyway at work we are currently waiting for the business edition of Vista to be delivered but for the time being I have XP and the Vista beta installed on the works PC that you see in my sig.
I thought I would put my Energy montior to the test and plugged my PC in (no monitor or anything else)
This is what I found:
XP
Booting - 155 watts
Desktop with a couple of windows - 121 watts
VISTA
Booting - 140 watts
Desktop with a couple of windows - 124 watts
So actually I had nothing to worry about! I also found that if I dragged a window about In XP it would jump to 139 watts where as Vista was only 132 watts
I'm happy now and I hope this info makes some of you feel a bit better too
