Hi all. thought id share with you.

I had been working late shift last night to early this morning about 5 o'clock til around 1am, My friend gave me a lift home from work, when i got in i did the usual had food and got ready for settling down for the night.

So its about 2am, and i decide to play video games for a while, becoming hooked on them til around 5.30 am i know im silly, so i decide its time for sleep, i get up go to check on the dogs and get a drink, when i open the kitchen door, i find our eldest dog (gizmo) (btw we have two chihuahuas) on his back legs in air, spit/foam all over him, having some kind of fit, his tongue out really dark blue, so i paniced and tryed to get him to come around and breathe, i couldnt do much for him, so i ran to the hallway and shouted upstairs for my mum.

Mum comes running down the stairs, and grabs him takes him outside into the patio area in the garden, and starts calming the dog down, when the dog starts coming around i feel relief, and my mum says "Alex, i dont feel so well".

At this point she collapses hits her head on the patio floor which is tiled, and starts to have a fit, at which point i start screaming for my dad, and he runs downstairs, and luckily knew what to do.

its been such a scary morning i started panic'ing supposebly its the 2nd fit she has had within 20 years, ambulance took her, and i was in hospital to 10 this morning, they let us have a break for an hour, so me and dad came home, and i layed down, dad told me to sleep as i hadnt had any since the day before.

so when i woke up at about 3pm, i got up got dressed, went into the living room, to find my mum walking about the house, and greeted me with a hug :) she said shes fine but just is very weak, and she has cut open her mouth, and has a bruised cheek bone, i was so happy to see her walking about. Doctors said she was fine to come home if thats what she wanted. so shes at home now resting until she feels back to usual strength.

Just thought id share, i was in so much shock at how the events took place, all happened so fast :( thanks for reading ocuk.

-Alex.

So the dog had a fit, then your mum had a fit? Have you checked for a gas or a carbon monoxide leak?

Scary, do they know what brought on the fit? Seems odd that both the dog and your Mum had a fit when she got close to the dog.

so what was causing the fits?

i dont want to get into what caused the fits or how they did start, they started today probably from stress, or panic, the paramedics said it could have been her hitting her head on the floor that caused it.

erm as far as im aware, are chihuahuas have always had a breathing problem, this must just have been a much worse attack. as they do suffer with breathing.

intestigate it!

seems a little to strange that two different species wouold be having fits randomly

Maybe they have some sort of psychic link.

Did the fit not cause your mum to fall, rather than the fall cause her fit as you say? It's very strange that both would have a fit at the same time.

im not entirely sure of what was said after i left the hospital. all i know was she fell over, then started having a fit, unless she passed out first? it all happened a little quick.

If she fell for no reason and hit her head which caused the fit, it sounds like them both having fits is just coincidental.

However, if the dog had a fit, and then your Mum came in, started to go into a fit and then bumped her head on the way down, I would do some investigating.

Very strange for them both to suffer a fit at the same time.

Glad they're both OK anyway. :)
