Yes yes it's daily mail.

But this is the school I used to go to (and left in June 2009) It was a brilliant school amazing ratings and had a brilliant headteacher which retired in 2007 (when I was in year 9) after that we got this new bloke in John O'Hara, and he is absolutely useless in my opinion.

So yeah, do you think this is overkill or not?

When I was there, if you were caught kissing a girl you got told off pretty bad. But for linking arms? I think it's ridiculous. He says it was a misunderstanding but knowing him he's just covering his own arse.

He (the headteacher) even made an account on FaceBook called Ethel Crystal, with no picture of who it was, and went around adding all St Benedict's students of all age groups claiming to be a student at St Benedict's itself? He then went on to deny he had anything to do with it.

I hope he gets fired tbh.

So what do you think, justified or not?

Since when did school pupils get to decide if they don't like being told off then they'd all just walk out?

It is a bit much being told not to touch at all sort of thing.

When I was at school there were plenty of 'couples'; some that acutally turned into marriage and children in later years. Nothing OTT but holding hands in breaktime outside, in common rooms etc.

Totally getting into each other or worse then yes obvious it is a school. Other than that you have to repspect the fact they are people, not some autonomous number that the business man can pummel through the years.

"When it finally petered out, several pupils had been suspended, some prefects had been stripped of their titles, and scores of detentions had been handed out. "

:D

Oh dear!

So they had a discussion on appropriate behaviour and they made up a story about 'no contact' that never actually happened and decided to walk out....

Foolish children acting like foolish children.

'There is no credibility to the reason why they were out of lessson.'

Apparently no such 'no touching rule' was evident, some of the kids made it up, posted it on FB and it spread like these things do.

Well yes, but there is two sides to the story isn't there.

Its not something I feel particularly strong over however I do remember a few cowboy teachers dishing out their own type of schooling.

You have to ask yourself what happened in the classroom where this 'walkout' was staged from. That is some 'twisting'. Clearly someone totally failed at their job if that is the case.

Suspend the ring leaders and give 3 weeks detention to everyone who took part.

Yeh that will make things better. Enjoy suspending the entire school.

You make an unfair rule and theres no stopping teenagers.

Probably, but as a Parent, if my son decided to take it upon himself to 'walk out' without first talking to me I wouldn't be amused.

If they have issue with school policy, talk to their Parents and let them deal with it.

Teenagers talking to parents?

What you have to remember is that most kids are idiots. You aren't going to win a game of escalation unless you really are committed.

God it seems like kids these days have it easy, am i the only one who remembers having the blackboard eraser launched at me if i gave cheak in class or the cane or the slipper...hell even a ruler on the knuckles? ahh them were the days :D

When they realized they had the ability to think for themselves. Not only is the education system useless at educating people, but it's also designed to take this ability away from people so they'll be good little sheep. And it's failed even at that.

Gideon: Looks like it's a bad batch David
Cameron: Oh well, we've taken away their one chance at a decent education, they'll all end up working in mines... oh wait, make that call centres ;) Nobody's going to listen to a call centre worker now are they?

Yeah, like that isn't going to come back bite you very hard in the arse.

Thats not right!!! we were lucky if we could take are ties off on the hottest day of the summer when I was at school, and only then half an hour before the final bell.

And speaking of the finish time, why when I drive home from work do I see school children walking out of schools at around 3oclock? we did till 3.30 without fail.

Schools are getting to easy and lenient these days.

The right to behave themselves and do as they are told.

Because they're kids?

When I was in High School, we had an issue with one of the teachers. She just wasn't up to scratch. A few people from my class had a polite meeting with the headmaster and it was agreed that another would be looked for.

New teacher came in, grades soared in the class, and she's still there.

A sensible and adult way to manage the situation.

However if you just all up sticks and stormed out then you should be treated like the children you are acting like.

Discipline in schools doesn't mean an infringement of rights, if they felt they were being treated unfairly, acting like spoilt brats wasn't the way to solve it.
