Hi all,

Trying to get some insurance sorted on my scooter, 125cc Runner, unsure where to look to be honest, I have tried e-bike then I didnt know any others :o

Does anyone know of any others? Couldn't see any in the sticky :(

Thanks,

Thanks guys will try some. There seems to be a big diference between the prices of insurance, for example one place quoted me £900 TPFT on my Gilera Runner 125 and somewhere else quoted me £400

Edit: If I have done the CBT and have a provisional Car licence what would I select Provisional Motorbike Licence or Moped Only?

Edit 2: H&R Just quoted £276.30 with £500 excess :)

Look at the differences

NIG £276.30 £500 *excess
Highway Choice £525.05 £350 *excess
Europa £686.70 £250 *excess
Zenith £809.55 £200 *excess
Southern Rock £961.71 £150 *excess

I would probably spend £150 insuring it third party only, lose the theft cover, then spend £100 on a seriously secure chain and lock that will be a much better deterrent for theives. You can just chain it to something substantial. This has saved me hundreds over the years, especially with a £500 excess there on one of those quotes, you'll get about £250 back if it's stolen :(

A Runner is always going to be expensive to insure unfortunately because all the little rudeboy 'ped kids want them.

it is cheaper than my last one (Peugeot Vivacity 100)

What sort of lock do you recommend? Also would it be a good idea to invest in a "Ground Anchor" for my brick shed?

The Excess is the same price I paid for the scooter! :(

TPO quotes:

NIG £281.70
Southern Rock £364.32
Zenith £466.82
Highway Choice £499.68
Norwich Union £889.53

I think it is best to just go with TPFT as I am not saving anything infact its £2 more :p this is only on the first site I have tried TPO with though so we shall see

Almax Immobiliser III with a squire lock. It's all I'd use on my bikes.

A ground anchor (assuming it's not a cheapo one) will act as something else that will cause thieves aggro, which is always good.

Ok cool, shall have to look into it :)

Looking around at work it seems out the front there are only places where cycles can go and as such the "railing" to chain it to doesn't look that good :(

Are Disk locks worth it also?

Hi,

I am looking on the Bay of E for number plates, but I am unsure on what the legal size is for one?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330145042450

E DO THE FOLLOWING SIZES:

9" x 3" 9" x 7" 8" x 6" 12" x 3"

11" X 2.5" 12" X 6" 13" X 6.5" 13" X 7"

16" X 4"

YOU NEED TO CHOOSE YOUR:

*
FREE LOGO
*
FREE FONT
*
PLATE SIZE
*
FREE BACKING COLOUR - yellow or white
*
FREE BLACK BORDER - if required

£7.50 all inc. is a lie though, as its £2.50 postage on top :p

For the logo I am thinking of the Gilera text simular to the honda ones etc that it shows as you cant have text :(, Font I was thinking of the 3d one (if it is legal?) Size? no idea, and I would have the border

It is to replace this one:

It has black marks (assuming from the tyre) on the last 3 letters

Legal size is irrelevant if you are going to add silly logos, fonts and colours etc. they all make your plate illegal. Stick with the standard road legal plate, its one less thing to get pulled over for.

http://www.dvla.gov.uk/media/pdf/leaflets/v796.pdf

Also, get a proper chain and put it through one of the wheels. You can remove the can strap an unhook the chain by undoing 1 bolt on a VX runner.

Edit: also, is that drainpipe metal or plastic? :D

Dave

Metal, and ignore the chain :p

I am sure I have read somewhere that the 3d font was legal  ah well standard it is :)

I have the standard one going back on it before the MOT and I shall be keeping it on after too, as the Scorpian exhaust is far too loud.

What size number plate should I be looking at to be legal?

Ah thanks, and thanks for the offer Jonny :p

The local motorfactors and bike shops usually want double ebay prices
