Would the prices listed on their website(running the journey planner) be the same as the prices paid when buying on the train or at the station?

I would phone but there's a waiting time, presumably with the weather and I didn't want bog them down even more with such a simple request.

Depends on how far ahead you are planning, in my experience. Greater than about 2 weeks and they are cheaper than you would get by paying at the station/train.
 
I'd watch out most train operators don't allow you to buy off peak tickets on the train, so make sure to buy them before on the station.
