A holidaymaker is critically ill with head injuries after being pushed off a sea wall on the Isle of Wight.

The woman, aged in her 60s, fell 12ft (3.6m) on to concrete steps when she was pushed from a wall at Hope Beach, near Sandown, on Saturday evening.

She was taken to the island's St Mary's Hospital then transferred by helicopter to the neurological unit at Southampton General Hospital.

A boy aged 17, from Shanklin, Isle of Wight, has been arrested.

Hampshire police have appealed for any witnesses who were on the beach between about 1700 BST and 1900 BST to contact them.

"This was an extremely serious incident which has left an innocent holidaymaker in a critical condition in hospital," said a Hampshire police spokesman.

The woman, who is from the Midlands, is believed to have been on holiday alone.

The worst thing about this is that he'll probably serve no sentence for what he did.

So true, I hope she has a couple of grandsons who can go and do the same to the lad, I know I would want to get some payback.

I'll put £10 on her eating a 99 icecream at the time.

Humpty Dumpty was, as wikipedia will tell you, originally a hilarious riddle where the rhyme was presented in its usual form, followed by "...an egg!". Simply hilarious.
