why do you need wiki to know that the reason we had the scrappage scheme was because we had tons of stock lieing round unsold because nobody was buying a new car in a middle of a recession ?

one of the key counter arguments was that these cars had already been manufacturerd and were sitting around unsold because of the recession.
So offering the incentive didnt increase car production and co2 output because the cars were already made to meet a demand that wasn't there.
"someone" I know went here, before top gear said about it.
I... ( I mean someone) have loads of pictures somewhere, will upload them if you want to see them?

I can't say that I remember any specific suggestion that the cars couldn't be cannibalised for spare partsExcept they're not allowed to, because of the legislation under which the scheme was set up.

I can only think how happy it would make the average north african family to be given a BMW 740i![]()

. It's such a shame that cars like this are being left there to rot.The rules when they were scrapped in the scheme says they can never go back on British roads.why cant the goverment re sell the cars, would help pay some bills?
