Ok so after causing a riot on my last thread, labled something like "8150 world record!!!! i can't wait for my Bulldozer" i decided to do a bit more digging now that more and more people have had time to have a play with it. i also to into account ALL of the comments in the last thread, even the crappy ones though not too constructive or civil they did carry some weight.
So as the title of the thread suggests i called up and canceled it and ordered the 2600K 3.40GHz with the Asus P8P67 Pro Intel P67 instead. The rest of my build will stay the same. Not sure if i can post the rest of the build details in this thread so i wont lol. Should be here tomorrow so look forward to letting you know how i get on.

Hehe, i haven't seen your old thread but i can imagine the colourful debate...

You've got the makings of solid setup - what's the rest of your spec (it's not a problem posting your spec again even if it's in another thread).

The rest of my set up is

OCZ ZX Series 1000W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply

2x Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 6870 Vapour-X 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 32MB Cache

Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB SATA 6Gb/s 16MB Cache

Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz

LG BH10LS38 10x BluRay-RW / 16 x DVD±RW Lightscribe Drive

Akasa AK-CC4008HP01 Venom Voodoo CPU Cooler

Fractal R3 case

I know its not the best case but it has to sit in my living room next to the tv so it needed to look sleek and not too in your face.

Hehe, I was watching that thread with amusement... People do get het up about "quite fast" vs "very fast" don't they? :)

Nonetheless, you've made the "right" decision with regards to the best performing components. I'm sure you'll be very happy with your new build :D

Good Choice.. If you can also afford it i would drop a SSD in for the OS. With that CPU/MEMORY/BOARD it will make substantial difference in the way the system performs. :)

Cheers buddy, I'd love to but if i spend much more cash on it this year my wife would skin me alive. Next year ill be looking at SSD and Watercooling.

Understandable matey.. If you could manage with either the 500Gb or the 1Tb then i would use that money for the SSD and wait till prices come back down on the larger capacity platter hdd.. ;)

Just my opinion mainly because even with working with top spec kit every day i notice the improvement with an SSD for OS compared to platter drive.. Its the future i tell thee.. :D

The last thread was just tough love. You are much better off now, as am I and many other's who switched to Sandybridge from an AMD :D

It's unfortunate AMD are so weak at the moment but we should not suffer for it.

Agreed, I choose not to martyr myself to "support" a multi billion dollar company at the expense of personal enjoyment, tyvm :)

Though I do hope AMD get back in the game before the old Intel prices return!

Agreed, I totally want their next processor to completely kick intels ass just to keep things competitive. No brand loyalty to anything (just a few that impress me but any can win me over).

Cancelling the BD and ordering the 2600K was the right thing to do.

I use a 2500K for gaming and a 2600K for encoding, in addition i also have a BD 8150 so i personally have been able to compare performance.
I can't see a use for the 8150, it's single threaded performance rules it out for gaming and the 'supposed' multi threaded performance just isn't there, so it can't replace the 2600K in it's encoding duties.

If i was in the situation where i had to choose just one PC to keep, it would be the 2600K running in the ASUS p67 pro,

If you would drop from the 2600K down to the 2500K, it will has next to no difference in performance gaming wise. The question is, are you using any application that actually take advantage of the Hyper-Threading on the 2600K? As that is the only real advantage it has over the 2500K. The money you saved by dropping from the 2600K down to a 2500K should be close enough or enough for getting a decent 60/64GB SSD.

Also, you might want to cancel the order for the motherboard...as not only the Z68 chipset board is better than the P67 ones, there is currently a VERY special offer, which you can claim 20% of the money back from MSI if you get a qualifying MSI Z68 motherboard from OcUK! See below for more details:

If you would make the two changes above, I think you already found your budget for a 60/64GB SSD :D

cheers mate, point taken but im not too hung up on ssd's right now maybe next year with the launch of windows 8.
i bought the mb and cpu from ocuk it was on a deal if you bought together sure i could havr done it another way but after escaping the AMD abortion i think im on a winner.

God knows whats going on over at AMD seems like its going down hill for them, i hope thry sort it out before the next-gen xbox arrives because atm they are the ones nailed town for the chip lol

Surprised you stayed after that thread tbh :p, its amazing how abusive people can be because of someones cpu choice

Welcome to the dark side mate. I'd recommend a Gen 3 motherboard if you can get one - bit of future proofing for ya ;)

the comments from your last thread was abit harsh

some ppl just don't understand that, not everyone reads review or study it before they buy things

personally i would say intel is a better choice

at least the harsh comment convinced you to buy a better product!
