Should have stopped gypsies camping out on farm land first.
Not all squatters are dodgy, lots of white collar staff find themselves homeless, lots of women are in abusive relationships and won't be rehomed by councils.
Typical Torys, ignore bankers running amok, and stick it to vulnerable people.

Vulnerable or not, they are not entitled to someone else's property against their will.

I have to say most of the squatters I've met in my time are far from vulnerable and are in reality mostly middle class refuseniks with a chip on their shoulder and a warped view of reality.
In reality I do hope the new law is very well written so as not to allow corrupt landlords use it to bypass tennants rights and get them chucked out as squatters. I paid rent to a few dodgy types in my time who wouldn't think twice over abusing law loopholes to make more profit.

Agreed like the guy who spent thousands on renovating an old property, he came back one morning and found squatters in his property and his family ended up stuck in a caravan for months!. The police wouldn't evict them and he had to spend thousands in court fee's to get them out.
Squatters in peoples properties disgust me
Just because theyre vunerable, it doesnt give them the right to break into someones house, change the locks and refuse the owner of the house entry.
It makes me cringe to read anyones comment who seems to think that squatting of some sort should be tolerated/allowed under certain conditions circumstances (vunlnerability, or property abandoned for a long time).

Seen that happen more than once, had a mate restoring a old property, squatters got in & strip it of all it's valuable fireplaces, etc.

It is not right to steal someone else's property. Water is a basic necessity also, and if I have a bottle in my fridge and leave it there for ages it does not make it right for someone to take that water.
Food is a basic human necessity. If I leave some steak out for a long time it doesn't make it right to steal it.
The rotting point is moot. These people are not waiting for their house to literally fall down (the property equivalent of food rotting).
I stick by my original post with the solution.
