Screen, graphics.. whats at fault?

Hey guys, got my old toshiba back to sort from a mate, hard drive was dead so changed that, still nothing on screen, used a vga lead and connected it to my monitor and got this..





Is it the graphics or is the screen borked. its a toshiba satellite p100-113.

The graphics chip is almost certainly broken. Those vertical stripes are a classic sign the GPU has failed, probably due to bump-cracking.
