Just what I needed one a sunday morning. 3 Cars on our drives (shared with the neighbour) Corsa, 206 and Mini Cooper. Guess which on the scumbag cartheif broke into!

Thats Right the Mini which is the oone I use to earn a living. So thats at least 2 day loss of earnings plus the glass excess etc and the damage to the car. Luckily they got nowt as the car is parked behind the corsa and the 206 (neighbours) is parked beside it. The drivers seat might need replaced if the glass does not come out of it and some bodywork repair is required.

Neighbour saw the scrote leaning in through the drivers window and chased him!!! Every police officer in Glenrothes turned up along with the dog!!! They recon they have a good idea who it is so maybe the no swearing will get his.

Meantime I have to cancel lessons with 2 new pupils and 1 pupil might not get to sit his test on Wednesday morning in the Mini in which he's trained!

So this monkeys cost me several hundred pounds and inconvienenced several people and put one guys test in jepardy all for nothing~!

Actually, you were quite fortunate.

A friend of mine lost his Sierra 4x4 Cosworth a while back, it was parked behind 2 locked cars which were broken into & moved before they disabled his alarm & immobiliser & drove it away.

They did no damage to the Corsa & Escort that were blocking it in !

It was undoubtedly some arse after whatever he could thieve from the inside.

Had it been a "pro" your car would not be there.

Any good car valeter will get the glass out of your seats, let the repairers sort it out.

Scum. I hope they catch whoever has done it.

On a more practical note, Autoglass or whoever will replace the glass and clean up the mess today, which should get you back on the road. You can then book the bodywork repairs for a more conveinient time.

Arnold Clark will hire you a car fitted with dual controls if you need something in the interim to keep your business going.

You have fully comprensive car insurance as an instructer, put a claim in, get a hire car from them, nobody is inconvienced.

Sorry to hear that :(

It must be all the GPS cradle (?) etc that you have on view. He obviously spotted it and thought it was worth a closer look to see if anything else had been left, possibly in the glovebox.

Police say to remove all GPS mountings etc when you leave the car and even remove the marks from the suction cup.

LOL Its not that simple. The glass on the mini is not available from stock apparently. The replacement car takes 2 days so here on Tuesday if necissary. Best I can hope for is glass replaced at dealers tommorow and car on road for tuesday. Guy with test on wednesday has lessons on Monday and tuesday. So he is inconvienienced and the best case I can hope for is £60 for the window excess and £50 for damage excess.

So tell me if you had £110 taken from your wallet for no good reson would you be so unconcerned?

Also It inconvienences me! I too am allowed to relax from time to time and just because I am a driving instructor does not make me super rich. I could live without losing £110 and the days work. Not to mention upsetting pupils by having to cancel lessons.

Instead of just accepting that you will have to cancel all appointments why don't you ring round loads of hire companies and try to hire the same car for a couple of days.

Call your insurere and explain it's urgent and they should get you one tomorrow. I imagine you pay them a lot of money so just remind them of this.

If I could get a replacement car with dual controls at this short notice I would. I have spoken to several places and before anyone mentions Arnold clark the dual control Hirecar is not available for ADI's by the day and the charges go through the roof if you put miles on it.

It not sympathy I was looking for I was just making a post to vent my anger at some mindless moron who has inconvieneced me and my pupils and cost me money and what did the muppet get for his efforts? NOTHING! Insurance company is good enough but they will not be able to get the hire car here before midday tommorow and thats just the way it is if inconsiderate theives damage your car on a sunday.

How would you guys like to be in my shoes? Bet you could think of better ways to spend your sundays! Not to mention all the aggravation etc.

I surprised that you leave so much on display in your car. It's no surprise that he had a go to see if you had anything hidden in the car of any value.

Sorry to hear that though, it does suck big time. Scum. Just because they think they can get it for free they think they can get away with it.

I hope it doesn't cause you too much issues.

What was on display? I dont get this. The car was parked Behind the corsa. the road is another 10 feet or so away. I took this

standing next to the lamppost shown in this

So how can it be that I left stuff on display?

Well the person comes and has a snoop around - that's what thieves do - It's common sense really. Like leaving your blinds open in your house. I know you shouldn't have to hide stuff away, but people will always be looking for a quick bit of opportunity.

It still sucks and I feel for you.

I see your point of the car not being that much on display but the scumbag could have seen the car before. Checked it out to see what was in it somewhere else. A few days before or something.

Anyways, I hope they catch you ever did this and charge them.

Sorry to hear your bad news :(

Anyway, Like you guys say, its just inconvienience and money at the end of the day. Not life or death, well not unless the moron comes back........

Other people have bigger problems and in the grand scheme of things this is just not that important.

Its still annoying to me and made me very angry.

I think anyone in your position would feel the same. :( It's not nice at all. Good luck with getting it sorted. :)

Working yourself up will achieve nothing.

But i suppose i am so calm about dealing with things like this, from years of dealing with things like this, getting to work to find trucks broken into, broken down, or just plain..............not there, no drivers, ill drivers, drivers walked off.
You have to accept that these things happen, and deal with them.
You could have a hire car on your door step within an hour of ringing an insurance company, if they cant do it, get another insurer.
