Hello all

I recently bought new cpu cooler and went for the scythe fuma 2 dual fan cooler due to price and good reviews. I have them connected to the cpu fan socket on msi mag tomahawk z490 mobo using y splitter provided. Wheb using computer only 1 fab is spinning. Wheb I swap the fans plugs around in the y splitter. Obly the other fab spins. There is enough power going to motherboard as an 850 watt psu connected with 12 pin connecter. Is this normal or is there an issue with Y splitter. The pc booted and was running still at w cool temperature. Any help would be appreciated as apart from this being a faulty y splitter or I am missing something I have no idea what this is as clearly both fans work as they both are able to spin.

Kind regards

David

Soubds like the fab splitter is kbackered

if you have a cpu_opt header you can plug the other fan into that and tehy should both work unttil you get yourself a working none kbackered splitter cable

Thank you all for your help abd sorry for late response. Been one of those weeks. I'm sure you can all relate. Got myself a new y splitter from overclockers (massive thank you to them as they sent for free despite all I really wanted was some expert advice and I would have bought a new one, little things like that though make me confident to purchase from them again though) this has solved the fans. The GPU which I have is a lovely Asus RoG strix 970. Turns out yes the fan only spins when kt gets tk certain temp. 5 years of owning this card and I never knew.

Happy with my new build. Few parts in my new build changed as was given a new i5 for a birthday gift. My main thing I'm saving up for will be a new gpu bjt Happy to wait to for stock abd prices etc . Also would like to learn how to actually overclock to get a little more free performance

I've got the same issue with my new Fuma 2 from OCUK, the slim fan does not spin when connected to the splitter. If connected directly to the motherboard it works fine, but only the thicker fan spins when using the splitter (doesn;t matter which terminal on the splitter I connect the fans to). I have also tried a different splitter that came with my case fans, and that doesn't work either. Could it be a power issue from the board maybe? It seems a bit weird.
