Hey guys, I'm thinking of trying a new thing with my Infinity. I've seen a lot of people mounted fans on different sides and such but last night I had a brainwave, why not mount one fan on top of the other (not literally). I have a fan facing the front of my case, and there's a fan on my case on the other side of the cooler. I'm thinking of mounted two fans facing the front, two on one side. Would it be possible to do this using normal screws? Or would I need to use cable ties? If figure the Infinity's wire clips won't reach the cooler.

Sure... you could do it. I'm not sure if it will actually increase airflow though, or even the speed that it passed through the Heatsink. I would have thought that one of the fans would need to either bigger or faster for there to be a difference.

iKettles, I've only just got my Scythe Mugen (infinity). I've had some problems with it and wonder if you have the same thing and have a solution.

If my case is standing up normal I have the feeling because of the weight the cooler leaning a bit towards the ground and is not making proper contact with the CPU and starts running hot / rebooting. Now when my case is on its side there is no problem :P

Only time I have seen this problem is when someone mounts a heavy heatsink without using a backplate on the Mobo... I assume you have one mounted? The mobo's just aint rigid enough to take today's monsters.

I don't have a backplate no? They don't come standard with the mobo do they?

depends on the mobo, but sounds like your's doesn't.

I am sure Thermaltake do some... am also sure it's from a competitor too, so Google is your friend. Less than a tenner, and will work on almost all mobo's that use that particular hole spacing.

No backplate on mine AFAIK, just straight out of case into my eVGA 650i. I'd make sure it's correctly seated and the black pins are going right through the white pins. This should be enough to hold it. If it's really not enough, get some cable ties to support it.
