They are very good to be honest. If I had anything bad to say it would be that the supplied fan doesn't shift much air, so you might want to replace it with something a little better.

Depends on whether you want out and out performance or relative quiet. If quiet, then the Noctua NF-P12 series are awesome.

For a performance fan, the Sharkoon Silent Eagle 2000RPM's are pretty good.

But you can easily fit any standard 120mm fan in there.

That Noctua is just what I have in my case. I am currently using 3 of them and about to install another.

They are IMHO fantastic. Decent airflow with very little noise. They run as standard at around 1300RPM and are pretty quiet. Knock them down to around 900-1000 and they are almost inaudible, whilst still moving decent air. Not cheap, but brilliant.

well doing a comparison my Zalman @ 900RPM, 20dBA

where as the Noctua = 1300 RPM @ 19.8 dBA

so i'd notice no sound difference but notice a massive difference with airflow into my case which is what i seriously need

Don't believe those sound ratings for one minute. The Zalman is WAY more than 20db. It's all in the way they measure it. You will notice a BIG sound difference, trust me, I have had pretty much every so called quiet fan, including one of those Zalmans, which is currently lying in my loft

Some of the fans I have tried....

Akasa Amber, Akasa Smoke, Scythe Kama, Xilence Red Wing, Sharkoon Silent Eagle (yeah right ), Zalman Silent (again don't think so), Nexus

And by far and away the Noctua's are the best I have used, and most importantly, the quietest.

cheers Diggsy for the replies.

you've helped me make my mind up. Will order once i've scouted a new case too. My Coolermaster Elite 330 is on the small side with no room for proper cable management etc. But that topic is for a seperate section :D

You're welcome.

Depending on your budget, take a look at the Silverstone Fortress - awesome case. There are a few nice build logs on here, my own included. :)

can people who have one let me know how good they are
It's a good piece of kit and the supplied 120mm fan is fine! :)

There is a piece of foam that's meant to help catch dust but it kept snagging against the fan so I took it out. Sans piece of foam and with the supplied fan it helped bring the system temps right down!

It is a very useful piece of kit, i fitted one on my akasa eclipse and swapped out the fan for a yate loon d12, later replaced with a sharkoon se 2000, i also removed the dust filter as it was a bit troublesome taking it out to clean. Quick blast of compressed air does a great job instead. Overall very useful in dropping my case temps.

How is yours mounted
I found the Scythe Kama-Bay was a bit fiddly to mount to the Antec P182 due to the cases use of those slide in optical-drive rails so I just cable tied the the end of the antec rails to the case (see in pic above) to stop them flapping about. Worked well but I didn't manage to get everything flush! :D
