I have a Canon A640 Powershot - my previous one used CF & maybe 'cause it was a slow card I had to wait for it to finish writing b4 I could take next photo. To avoid this which of the above would be faster? Sd seems to have faster speeds, class II & III are rated x50 & x133, while SDHC are 2, 4 & 6Mb/s. I know they use different file systems so does that offset the speed?
From a brief check it would appear fastest 2GB SD is same price As 4GB SDHC class 6.
Thanks

problem with SDHC is the compatibility of them atm, no instore kiosks or anything have yet been updated to use them. You can get extreme versions of the SDHC cards too, so speed shouldnt be an issue!

I'm not sure about your particular question but my girlfriend has a powershot A410. It did the same thing - taking ages after taking a photo to write before it could be used again.

I gave her one of my sandisk extreme IIIs expecting to speed it up a little, but it didnt make any difference.

I guess this means the bottleneck is in the camera somwhere, It may be the same for you

the limit of the card write in cameras is always reached before the limit of decent cards in consumer cameras, get a san disk ultra 2 and get snapping, even with standard san disk cards these are quick cameras.
