Anyone know why the enterprise drive ST12000NM0027 (around £370) is significantly cheaper than the desktop version ST12000DM0007 (around £420). I'm aware you'd have to buy a SAS interface to use the enterprise drive and may need better cooling but I thought the biggest disadvantage with enterprise drives was their price.

I emailed them and got the following response:

"Yes, this pricing is correct as we have a good supplier feed from Seagate on the Enterprise class drives."

I'm getting a free LTO-6 based tape drive coming my way soonish so will need to buy a SAS controller regardless so tempted to go with the above rather than the desktop version.
