Got 2 x 7200.10 250gb drivers in raid 0 and they are extremely hot to the touch all the time.

Is this normal? Motherboard is Asus P5N-E SLI. I'm sure my old HDs didn't run this hot!

The 7200.10s do run hotter than other drives, the normal operating temp range in their spec goes to 60C, most other drives don't go beyond 55C.

If you can touch them they're not getting that hot, close to 60C will give you a nasty blister.

I'd like to add that they if given usual/proper airflow they're not substantially hotter than most other drives. Mine runs around 34C most of the time. Stating the obvious: keeping drives cool are beneficial to their useful life.

Edit: corrected my grammar... :o

I have three harddrives in the front of my case = 2 x 7200.10's and a Samsung SpinPoint 160Gb. All are at around 30/31C with a 120mm intake fan blowing over them.
