H-Drive used for about 2 1/2 years and was once used as main drive long ago on my pc, now resides as storage drive within friends unit. Well he informed me it was playing up, round I pop to salvage what he had stored on it, no problem there. Was about to take the route of standard delete partition, followed by low level format, then full format etc. Well, deleted the partition easy enough but will not format and just showing RAW, format will run to the end then spam up saying 'cannot complete format' or words to that effect.

So are we talking safe bet this Drive has given up on life? Hardly would call 2 years 'old', although it was my former main drive so has been used a fair bit I guess. :)

10 years of PC fun & never had any H-Drive give up, even in the many PC's built for friends...untill now. So thanks for the tip, was un-aware Seagate did such software tool's, I'll report back at some point how i get on. :)

Download and run SeaTools and see what it throws up. :)

Finally got the time to attempt a salvage job, and the Seagate tool managed to salvage it when 4 other tools failed. I've given the drive a good testing since and no problems - so will go back in friends PC at some point.
