Well that has got to be one of the fastest deliveries ever!! But as said, price still stands until Friday 9AM so grab them before they jump back up! :D

Yep SATA 3 pointless for ANY mechanical drive ...

This is not true I am afraid. Burst speeds are limited by the interface. A drive with high burst rates requires the latest interface to function at its maximum speed. This is why SATA 1 ports slow down the faster SATA 2 drives :)

Its either this or the Samsung F4 2TB...any idea how they compare?

Speeds about on par from what I have seen however reads and writes of the smaller files (system files) seem a smidge better on this drive which is why it holds its price premium of £10+ over the samsung. Remember, this is only an Pre-order price that is being held until 9AM Friday. After this the drive will go back up to £79.99 which is still a very good price compared to the rest of the market :)

I am looking to order one of these now, but you say a pre-order price, does this mean they will not be dispatched until after Friday? This is not an issue, I just would like to ensure I know when it might arrive.

They were not supposed to arrive until later this week but just 1 hour after ordering from the supplier they arrived! Excellent service me thinks :D

These drives as such will be dispatched for you for next day delivery (in this case wednesday as it will not get processed until tuesday).

Pre-order price was for the week however stock arrived early and out of good will OcUK has decided to honor the price until 9AM Friday :)

I have referred them to this thread on the RMA/Technical Quieries areas. If you look at post 33 I did a test with the F3 solo and it still gave me issues that I did not have before.

I really dont know what to do now as my F3 seems to have issues with or without the new drive, but I am unsure why this has happened. Also I am unsure why the new drive is having issues in the first place. It has to be something to do with what is highlighted in yellow on HDTune in one of my previous posts.

It looks as though changing the drives sata ports to test speeds has had an adverse affect on the drive. the only explanation I can think of is driver signing from one port to the next due to potentially running the drives on 2 separate controllers. Ill speak with technical to see if they know of anything like this and if they dont I will have a look to see if it can be replicated some how.

I must be honest, I dont completely understand what you mean. If you think there is something I can try to help the situation, if you post it then I can see if I can do it.

Would you like me to post the steps I have taken so far so you can recreate the issue?

Swapping the SATA port on both drives has resulted with both drives no showing massive dips. As such going from ports 1 and 2 (as an example) to then 3 and 4 and re running tests and back again has some how caused the issue. How the issue has been caused of what the issue is though I could not tell you as I honestly do not know but as said, I will speak with technical to see if they have seen similar before and if they know what causes this.

sweet deal AM ;)

might have to upgrade my NAS to a pair of these over my current barracuda 1TB LP drives :)

Doubling up on storage capacity whilst increasing performance a smidge has never been so cheap. Going to do the same and have one tomorrow before the price goes up :D
