***** SEAGATE MOMENTUS XT HYBRID HDD/SSD ***** IN STOCK NOW!!

Found the 250gb £20 cheaper somewhere else, come on OC, be more competitive!!

Bought both this and the OCZ Vertex 2 cheaper elsewhere...

I thought about picking up the 500GB one for storage in my main PC

Currently have 2 x 64GB SSDs in RAID 0, but there's not that much space for lots of apps and games

The less intensive games, or even my steam folder would be ideal to be stored on one of these methinks

Yes I could get a 3.5" HDD, but it takes up more room than I'd like tbh

How are you finding the drive? I'm really tempted to buy one but I'm just wondering if they are as good as they sound...

Have you noticed whether your boot times have improved? Also in general do your more used applications seem snappier?

at the end of the day and you need a new drive then get this one, if you are buying to replace an existing 7200rpm like i did you wont notice a mega improvement but a noticeable one.

if you are having it in a pc i dont see the point, get ssd for os and apps and then a standard for data

its is nice and is quicker, im not really one to bench mark as stuff like that bugs the hell out of me, but i do notice the os boots quicker around about 10 seconds faster, (from pressing power button to logon screen) apps i use the most are noticeably quicker than before. i have an ssd on my main pc and its not as fast as one at all, but it does offer a boast over a standard drive... here is my bench mark :D

I really like the idea of this product, but for me both the SSD capacity and the mechanical parts need to be bigger for it to be worthwhile in a desktop, mainly the SSD part. Just seems too small currently to offer good returns - min of 16GB IMO.

u might be missing the point dude, it moves the commonly used parts to the ssd bit. its not like you choose to install this here or this there.

I appreciate that, however 4GB ssd cache IMO still isn't big enough for a cache for it to be worth while in the long run on a desktop where you could have an SSD and a regular mechanical hdd.

In a laptop where you have space for one drive I can see the point.

Sort of makes sens to me, afterall, not every file needs to be quickly accessed, so why not have the most commonly accessed files readily available on ssd? My W7 installation takes up about 10gb.. does every one of those files need to be on the ssd???

Ive just bought one, and am quite pleased with the balance it offers with spped and capacity... OK, not as good as the Vertex2 I also have in another pc, byt loads my apps up just as quick....
