also the freight giant maersk is based in sealand

Seems not. I don't think its particularly plausable that a world multinational would be based on a gun platform with a portacabin on the roof.

maybe i got the wrong name *frowns*
there is a massive freight company (at least massive in the uk) that is based on sealand (or if it is maersk maybe they just have an office there) they have sealand on the containers with a funny logo, you were actually able to buy a model like matchbox version of the lorry so it must be a fairly big company

edit: it is maersk i meant, but i'm not sure whether maersk sealand has a connection to sealand or just use the name, i had always been under the impression their registered address or similar was there

Oh my god!

Me and my mate where actaully planning on talking over this place (by force) just before Christmas.

You can become Lords of the place, and we where planning to become Lords and then when we went to visit it, a series of 'accidents' would take place :) . Then we would rule it.

'The firm, Inmonaranja, has put a price tag of 750m euros (£504m) on Sealand.' Thats bloody high, considering it was knackered by a fire last July.

If any one wants to help in the capture of this place or if you have some kind of helicopter that we could use to get there, my MSN is in Trust to talk about it.

What do you think would happen if you just invaded it? If i were to take a boat and capture it? Could i declare it my own?

I can't imagine how big it is at all just in the middle of the sea like that. I want to see inside pictures of video lol. I'd hate to live in a place like that, you'd have to spent a mint on transporting all your food their.

No thanks, especially considering that is it before the fire.

I found better pictures earlier, but cant remember where. It looks like a dump tbh, like one of them old steel garbage bins, flattened and slapped on a couple of concrete pillars.

Well we expect very little resistance so it should just be a case of climbing a ladder, or just landing on there in a helicopter. I dought they could do anything about it seen as we would be armed with a M4 BB gun, a BB M3 Shoutgun, and a hell of a lot of knifes and other stabbing weapons.

You probabily could delcare it as your own if you invaded it.

Thats a good question, the othe question is if you killed the prince or one of the defending force in the process would you be arrested for murder in the UK?

Then could you be extradited to face trial in seaworld?

I suppose at that sort of point the government would step in and say thats enough and take it back or blow it up.

Well the UN isnt exactly going to go in all gong-ho and stop you are they? :D

On the other hand the current owners are the Bates family. Remember Psycho? Now do you really want to go there?

I quite like the idea of helping to create a new country on some island in a relatively safe area of the world but that rust bucket just looks like a health hazard, if many get tired of this country how about us like minded people get together and start a new utopian one somewhere?

Just had a quick look on youtube, there is a short vid on it.

The name Maersk Sealand originates from a US company called Sea-Land Service, Inc which was founded in 1960 and taken over by the Maersk Group in 1999. 'The Principality of Sealand' was founded in 1967. There is no connection between Maersk and 'The Principality of Sealand'.

I've seen a load of images of the inside and it is indeed a complete rustbucket. It looks like a huge DIY disaster from WWII which has been gradually eroded by the sea. Apparently the people who "own" it at the moment are known locally as a bunch of headcases...

Heres a better picture of it in all its dubious glory:

More pictures HERE and HERE.

The second link appears to have a picture of them dunking a local witch, or something. :p

Edit: Hey....I wonder if they have to pay their TV license?
