Right, my mate has had his pc working fine for weeks now,

Last night he tried to turn on his pc and there was a small click and nothing happened,

Ive come over to his house tonight and pulled every power cable off the motherboard, then i plugged in the two main power plugs to the motherboard the power switch is connected, and when you press the power buttons, the fans spin for a split second and there is a nasty sounding electrical arc/click.

It seems to me that the psu is dead has any one else had a similar problem, or do you think the psu needs warrantying ?

Many thanks TaKeN

BTW : Mobo is Asus A8N 32 SLi Delux ? | PSU Is Seasonic 600W

Any lights from motherboard. Other thing that could be dead is board. Id test the psu by turning it on when unplugged from board and use multimeter to see if its as it should be on the rails. I have a guide to doing this if you dont know how to.

Dead PSU.

My old PSU did the same, the light on the mobo would be on, I turn on the system, the fans twitch for a split second and then nothing.

I will explain throughtly'ISH cause i was in a hurry last night :)

My friend buys his bits, and builds his pc, he puts in a 7900 GTX and it works fine for a month, then all of a sudden he turns his pc on one day and gets No signal output from the monitor, He assumes dead gfx, so he puts my old x800 xl in and it does the same. So yesterday he took the mobo back to overclockers under waranty, instead of waiting two weeks for a replacement, he bought a new A8N and is going to sell the replacement.

My guess is , PSU Broke and killed the mobo at the same time.
