Seat Leon FR - things to look for?

Oh yeah, forgot to say one last thing - check the electric windows work and don't sorta... moan their way up to the top. Have had mine fixed recently and according to the technician it happens a lot. No idea if it affects the 06 generation though sorry, I have a CR TDI one.

I must admit I thought it was a cupra too (black bottom bar bit). I changed my wingcovers too, silver looks pretty bad on yellow. The washers for xenons are a EU requirement IIRC, although I have them too and the washers are mysteriously missing from mine, I guess they couldn't be arsed to install it with the kit as well.

If you still want a leon OP, I'd try and find one with the bluetooth kit as it also changes the onboard computer to a more advanced version too.

Sorry derailment? Talking about Leons and Leon alternatives in a thread about leons is derailment now is it?

I think not.

The car you have shown us is rubbish for the money. Find another one. 8.5k for a 4 year old Reference spec Leon is stupid.

Definitely look for one with the bluetooth, I couldn't live without mine now and it does improve the MFD.

The winter pack is a nice addition too with heated seats etc. :)

Whilst the Leon is nasty inside, at least it's put together well and won't fall to bits. That immediately puts it above any French interior in my book.

I don't think that's bad money for what it is in the OP, but there's no way i'd consider a poor spec like that. If you must get a Leon, at least get one with a few optional extras to make it bearable.

Whats the budget?

Octavia vRS could be worth a look?

About 35 - 40mpg (a guy I know has his averaging out at this), looks better inside & out to!

FFS, I knew this thread would end up like this. I asked about the Leon, Fox mentions the Jetta. The Jetta is as ugly as sin. To continue to discuss it is pointless.

Thanks Speedfreak for the advice. I'll go ask on a Seat Forum.

I test drove a leon FR when I was changing my mk2 octavia VRS..I just couldnt get over the huge slab of a dash, and it hard a really harsh ride..I did like the exterior styling though

in the end I went for a facelifted VRS....

you were offered advice, stay away from a barryed up lower spec leon when there are better value mechanically identical options.

I can't wait for the my new car thread if you actually spend 8.5k on that thing.

When you pay us for consultancy services you can dictate exactly how the advice is delivered. Until then, you can't.

You even have Leon owners in this thread being less than enthusiastic.

Why tell us you want a car for long journeys when you really want a low spec hatchback with a stupid bodykit where looks are primary?

id avoid a reference like the plague. it isn't an FR as recently pointed out it has an aero kit on , there is some aero kitted FR's about ,also the FR TDI isn't just pd as of this year they switched it out to a common rail with dpf as dpf on pd was causing problems with regens etc. they also did do an FR PD150 in the mk 1 leon

cheapest mk2 leon fr tdi i can find is 8900 but i have only looked on pistonheads. they look awesome from the outside specially in the right colour with aero kit on but the interior in everything except the cupra R looks dreadful but i dont buy a car just on how the interior looks myself

Id also recommend going on seatcupranet useful info and faq's in the mk2 leon section you dont have to register to view either

EDIT: the one youve just shown is coming up as a seat leon FR FS /confused.com

Well I don't think he'll get an FR TDI for £6.5K (if that's the budget, if it's the BIN price of £8.5K you would) so i'd suggest looking elsewhere.

I do think there are mega overreactions about the interior though. It's certainly NOT the worst thing on the car - that would be the harshness of the suspension.
