Second Hand 360 or Second Hand PS3 Slim 120gb

Got the option via a couple of different guys at work to buy either a PS3 Slim 120GB or a 360 Elite (Jasper) at roughly the same price.

Not a huge gamer these days but enjoy FPS and racing games (as we all do) and will probably end up buying most games on the cheap (ie second hand / pre-owned).

Media streaming from my network would be a huge plus-point meaning i can finally retire my old Xbox Crystal running XBMC through the Hi-deff connection pack.

Which in everyone's opinion would be the better option and why?

That the difficult one as they are split pretty much 50/50 between them both. Otherwise it would be an easy decision.


Whats the second hands games market like on them both?
 
go for the ps3. i had a 360 then replaced it with a ps3 and never looked back.
the only downside i had was no PGR series anymore, b ut i do get gran turismo now :D
 
If you’re a casual gamer and like to play movies and watch TV etc then its got to be the PS3. You can change the PS3 HD easier to store movies etc, it has a better media interface and BBC iplayer isn’t too bad on a PS3.

Most of the games that come out on xbox360 end up on PS3, and PS3 has some damn fine exclusives.

As for racing games on the PS3, xbox360 does have forza and PGR.

But PS3 will have *fingers crossed* GT5, and F1 2010 is just around the corner.

I'm changing from a PS3 to a 360. IMO the 360 has some better games and the online seems a bit more polished. I'll probably keep PS3 for GT5 and then sell it. Plus my friends that have both play their 360's more.
 
What are the prices of each console? The Xbox Elite was being sold new for prices between £130-150 at a few shops/sites recently. I don't know if they are still in stock. A couple of high-street shops are selling a used Elite with 12 months warranty for £99.99. I heard that a supermarket was seling the PS3 slim 120gb for £200 recently, I didn't see it myself though. Other than that, they seem to be pretty much RRP.
 
If you don't game day and night, go PS3 and save your money from an over-priced xbox live subscription. :cool:

Well I'd go PS3 even if you did game day and night :p , unless almost all your friends had xbox's.
 
Is there any reason to spend all that money on an elite?

I got a normal xbox off ebay that got delivered today for £82

Xbox 360 60gig
2x wireless controllers
play and charge cable
DVD remote
headset
chat pad (keyboard thing that plug into controller)
Wireless adapter
Lips game (+ 2x wireless mics)
CoD WAW + MW2
Fifa 2010
+ all the cables

So if i was you i would get the PS3 (not sure on there prices) and then get a cheap xbox so you can have both :)
