Securing your bike to a lamppost

If there's enough budget the ultimate solution would be a metal garage in the front of the house, along the hedge for instance. You'd need to make a path and put down a paving slab or concrete base, but it shouldn't need planning permission.

You'd be looking at £1000 for the garage + cost for the path/base but you'd be able to store tools/another bike/push bikes/lawnmower etc in there.

Edit: ignore, different

So..... Where would you guys keep the bike?

Not outside chained to a lamp post that's for sure. At a bare minimum chained to something solid in your back garden/patio/garden shed. Out of sight out of mind.

If you have no access to your garden then you had better factor that into your bike ownership. These little moped scumbag thieves are armed with battery slitters now, riding up and down looking for someone's pride and joy to nick, don't give them the opportunity!

There's a 4ft wall behind the gate which I haven't got round to building a step/ramp for so its out of the questions.

This is why I'm buying a decent chain and lock. Its relatively safe around my arrear, the kids leave their bikes out side over night and haven't been stolen yet.

Meh... will have to suck it and see.

Get a dog.
