See! They do eat dogs!

An animal is an animal if they're being bred to be eaten so be it. To be fair I don't even care if the conditions theyre kept in are aweful. If theyre there to be eaten so what.

Yes Im a harsh B******.

Herbivores are for eating, carnivores aren't -it's as simple as that. Dogs evolved from Wolves by being bred for things other than eating. So objectively it is infact sick.

If things that are simply bred for eating makes it acceptable then I quite fancy trying Chimpanzee, Human, Dolphin and many other things not considered as food currently.

As dogs are more intelligent animals and show human-esque emotions, I tend to care for them more and value their lives higher than cows. Really, this is just an extension of the principle than humans should be valued higher than other animals.

Then, I hope you don't eat octopus. Far more intelligent.

I'm shocked, a country that routinely abuses it's own citizens could be cruel to animals as well!?

Now if only we didn't buy everything they produced in their sweat shops then we could tell them to be nice. But really they can do what they want because we need them.

Far more importantly they are directly contributing to the possible extinction of tigers, elephants and rhinos and I'd love them to be shunned by the world, but they won't be because the world ultimately has no principles.

I don't agree with that at all, I don't think an animals diet should have any bearing. Not a fan of squid? :p

I do agree with this sentiment though.

I do want to try dolphin, other than humans why not and before we get into that debate. I believe being in society means humans have to be rated above any other animal.

While I'd rather have a dog as a pet as long as I'm not committing cannibalism I'll eat any meat as long as its prepared in a clean cooking environment and is free of any disease.

I do yes, but whilst it's intelligent it's not human-esque, so I personally don't mind so much.

So it's purly emotionally based as it reminds you of humans. IMO it's these opinions that need to be eradicated. If we animals, we eat animals. If it's not ok then let's not eat animal. Only distinction needs to be applied is for animals on the endangered list.

Also are rabbits pets or food? Or just like how I see cats & dogs they are both.
Or pigs for that matter, lots of pet pigs out there. It was the new cool thing to do, especially with introduction of micro pigs.

I think that human characteristics are desirable and should be valued more so than raw intelligence, you could argue thats emotional but I would assert that it's a good way of assessing the value of life. Otherwise the peak of existence would be a biological calculator :p

I don't value rabbits as highly as dogs or cats. I also value pigs, but that isn't to say I wouldn't eat them :)

What Hunan traits though. I don't see human traits in a dog and I don't think they should be valued. Why?

I don't base it on intelligence either. We eat meat, so all animals/fish/insects/birds are fair game. Anything else to me seems silly.

Typical Daily Mail rubbish. A lorry was hijacked and they think that's a good thing???

If they were farmed then what's the problem? As long as they weren't stolen from owners. IMO this is a better use of dogs than spending a fortune harbouring them in rescue centres; Africa needs food, we have a massive surplus of dogs and cats... win win!

The only time we shouldn't eat animals is if they're endangered or don't taste very nice, and even then, those provisos probably go out the window if you're starving/very poor!
