Dont take a myspace syle photo of yourself

See if you camera has a self timer option and use a tripod/pile of books/boxes/etc etc etc

Just dont what ever you do, post examples of your handy work in GD and ask for opinions

Self timer or IR release are the best options imo.

You can comb your hair over 1 eye and look moody. Don't forget to put it in black n white.

If you're serious about doing a good portrait ignore everything to do with MySpace.
